Sorry Hark, the sacrificial laws are also redundant.

God certainly does change the way he deals with humanity.

Verse? Chapter? Book? Sorry Klutedavid, I'll just go on what Yahshua says.

Jesus was talking to the Jews about their law.

You need to follow the instruction of the apostle to the Gentiles,i.e., Paul.

And be deeming the patience of our Lord salvation, according as our beloved brother Paul also writes to you, according to the wisdom given to him,

    (CLV) 2Pt 3:16
as also in all the epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, in which are some things hard to apprehend, which the unlearned and unstable are twisting, as the rest of the scriptures also, to their own destruction.

Romans 8:6-7 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against Yahweh; for it is not subject to the Law of Yahweh, nor indeed can be.

An incorrect interpretation, you are under Grace and not under the law.

The law of Moses was only valid until Christ.

You are under the law of Christ now, the law of love.

    Galatians 5:18
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

Now He, [Yahshua] answering, said, "I was not commissioned except for the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

    (CLV) Hb 8:8
For, blaming them, He is saying, "Lo! the days are coming," the Lord is saying, "And I shall be concluding with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant,

    (CLV) Hb 8:10
"For this is the covenant which I shall be covenanting with the house of Israel after those days," the Lord is saying: "Imparting My laws to their comprehension, On their hearts, also, shall I be inscribing them, And I shall be to them for a God, And they shall be to Me for a people.

    (CLV) Jn 14:6
Jesus is saying to him, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. Not one is coming to the Father except through Me.

    (CLV) Mt 23:8
"Now you may not be called `Rabbi,' for One is your Teacher, yet you all are brethren.

    (CLV) Mt 23:9
And `father' you should not be calling one of you on the earth, for One is your Father, the heavenly.

    (CLV) Mt 23:10
Nor yet may you be called preceptors, for One is your Preceptor, the Christ.

    (CLV) 1Jn 3:9
Everyone who is begotten of The God, (tou theou) (YHWH) is not doing sin, for His seed is remaining in him, and he can not be sinning, for he is begotten of The God (tou theou) (YHWH).

    (CLV) Mt 5:17
"You should not infer that I came to demolish THE LAW or the prophets. I came not to demolish, but to fulfill.

    (CLV) Mt 5:18
For verily, I am saying to you, Till heaven and earth should be passing by, one iota or one serif may by no means be passing by from THE LAW till all should be occurring.

    (CLV) Ps 119:160
The sum of Your word is truth, And all of Your righteous ordinances are eonian.

    (CLV) Mt 5:19
"Whosoever, then, should be annulling one of the least of these precepts, and should be teaching men thus, the least in the kingdom of the heavens shall he be called. Yet whoever should be doing and teaching them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

    (CLV) Lk 16:17
Yet it is easier for heaven and earth to pass by than for one serif of THE LAW to fall.

    (CLV) 1Jn 3:4
Everyone who is doing sin, is doing LAWLESSNESS also, and sin is LAWLESSNESS.

    (CLV) Mt 24:12
And, because of the multiplication of LAWLESSNESS, the love of many shall be cooling.

    (CLV) Mt 24:13
Yet he who endures to the consummation, he shall be saved.

    (CLV) 1Jn 2:4
He who is saying that I know him, and is not keeping his precepts, is a liar; and the truth of The God, (tou theou) (YHWH) is not in this one.

    (CLV) 1Jn 3:8
Yet he who is doing sin is of the Adversary, for from the beginning is the Adversary sinning. For this, was the Son of The God (tou theou) (YHWH manifested, that He should be annulling the acts of the Adversary.

    (CLV) Mt 23:28
Thus you, also, outside, indeed, are appearing to men to be just, yet inside you are distended with hypocrisy and LAWLESSNESS.

    (CLV) Mt 7:21
"Not everyone saying to Me `Lord! Lord!' will be entering into the kingdom of the heavens, but he who is doing the will of My Father Who is in the heavens.
    (CLV) Mt 7:22
Many will be declaring to Me in that day, `Lord! Lord! Was it not in Your name that we prophesy, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many powerful deeds?'
    (CLV) Mt 7:23
And then shall I be avowing to them that `I never knew you! Depart from Me, workers of LAWLESSNESS!'

    (CLV) Mt 13:41
The Son of Mankind shall be dispatching His messengers, and they shall be culling out of His kingdom all the snares and those doing LAWLESSNESS,

    (CLV) Hb 10:28
Anyone -repudiating Moses' LAW is dying without pity on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
    (CLV) Hb 10:29
Of how much worse punishment, are you supposing, will he be counted worthy who tramples on the Son of God, and deems the blood of the covenant by which he is hallowed contaminating, and outrages the spirit of grace?

At the risk of getting my own thread back on topic.

    =======================================
According to Paul the phrase "under the Law" is defined as "under the condemnation of the Law" for all have sinned and so "every mouth" shut and all the world condemned -- in need of a Savior.

    Romans 3
19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; 20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

31 Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.'

No wonder then that as New Covenant Christians the "Law is written on heart and mind" Jer 31:31-33

Because the Gospel solves the problem for those who are lost "Under the Law" -- by providing forgiveness of sins and the LAW now written on the heart.

1 Cor 7:19 "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of God"
Rev 14:12 "the saints KEEP the Commandments of God AND their faith in Jesus"

"Love Me and KEEP My Commandments" Exodus 20:6
"If you Love Me KEEP My Commandments" John 14:15
"this is the Love of God that we KEEP His Commandments" 1 John 5:2-3

hence even in the NT for Christians it is "still a sin" - to take God's name in vain.

For even in the New Testament "Sin IS transgression of the LAW" 1 John 3:4

    one verse short.

31 Do we then nullify the Law through faith? May it never be! On the contrary, we establish the Law.'

I don't understand what you are referring to but the commandment covers much. A person who hits his finger with a hammer and utters the Lords name would be using the Lord's name in vain but I think the commandment is meant for something more sinister like claiming to be Christian while wearing ones own garments and not the garments God provides.

It covers a lot of ground.

What this thread points out is that the Rom 3:19-21 term that Paul uses also provides Paul's definition.. the meaning he gives it.

Not a problem for those without a priori agenda to ignore the detail - but a detail that others will find "inconvenient"
