The CCC says the God of Abraham and Muhammad is the same Deity. So good Muslims can appreciate “In God we trust.”

They don't believe that Jesus is God thus I would think they worship some other god?

I didn’t say I agreed with the CCC. I was responding to a Catholic.

Another way of putting it would be that they worship the same God (the God of Abraham), but that they are very much mistaken as to both the nature of God, and the way to worship God.

And someone who thinks the fire hydrant in front of their house is the God of Abraham also worships the same god.

Someone who thinks the fire hydrant in front of their house is the God of Abraham has got multiple problems.

You read that right guys: US motto.

2014_ATB_Quarter_Obv.png

36 U.S. Code § 302 says: “In God we trust” is the national motto.

The US Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit) has ruled that this does not violate the First Amendment (Aronow v. United States, 1970).

Do you know why they said that? The conclusion was that it was such a widespread practice, and since no one paid much attention to it, the motto was essentially meaningless.

In front of school children, it would lead to some interesting consequences. Two words "equal time."

Want Wicca in public schools? Here's a way to do it.

Meh. It might be better to pursue a tax exemption for private schools. That was the case for me in Illinois. I was able to deduct at least part of the tuition & books for sending my kids to a Lutheran school.

Sorry to say, the motto doesn't mean much of anything to anyone, so I'm not sure what it will accomplish to add it ... maybe employ a few painters to put it on a few walls where it will be ignored.

Right. Freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

Well, let's take a look...

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,..."

So freedom from religion.

"...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; "

And freedom of religion.

No, that is just saying the government cannot set up it’s own religion.

That's what freedom from religion is. The government is forbidden to establish religion. Notice that it's not just forbidden to establish a particular religion; it's forbidden to establish religion generally as well.

This is why my daughter was legally allowed to pray on campus, to meet with her FCA associates during school hours, and to carry a Bible or display a religious article. The principal couldn't do those things, because he represented the government. But she could.
