User’s Guide to Sunday, Nov. 29, the First Sunday of Advent

Sunday, Nov. 29, is the First Sunday of Advent (Year B). Mass Readings: Isaiah 63:16b-17, 19; 64:2-7; Psalm 80:2-3, 15-16, 18-19; 1 Corinthians 1:3-9; Mark 13:33-37.

The readings today are from the First Sunday of Advent. Since the fifth century, Christians have seen Advent as a penitential period, a time of preparation for Christmas, and the readings today remind us of that.

I stopped Writing Advent Devotionals here but they are on the other website. There were too many Hateful People and Trolls on the Forum here who were undoing my work, attacking my faith and letting their inner hatred show forth, as opposed to the Light of Christ's love. SO I will be posting Advent devotionals, but not on this website.

Man, you guys are slow. We've been in Advent for two weeks already! There are those on the Old Calendar who started yesterday, but they won't be ending the fast until they celebrate Nativity on January 7th :)

Fasting is only beneficial if done for the right reasons, and there is a very real danger of falling into spiritual pride if not, but I really wish you guys could rediscover the "tools" which have been largely taken away from you over the centuries.

We fast. But not like you all do.
