So, I was supposed to go for a Christian event, but when I woke up my family was still there (even though they said they'd leave earlier) I had a bad dream and wasn't really in the mood to go and ask what was going on. I went back to sleep and when I woke up, the event was over. I don't know what I'm supposed to tell my parents because it was a very important event for then.

Well, I think the answer is simple: tell them the truth, and ask them what you want to know. :)

It's really not complicated. Ask them why they were still there, and tell them you were not in a mood to ask them earlier, nor to actually go.
