AOC-backed New York Democrat celebrates primary victory by declaring 'socialism wins' (msn.com)

Are we "winning for socialism"?

Socialist Republic of American States anyone?

"Kristen Gonzalez, a tech worker whose campaign for the New York state Senate was backed by the Democratic Socialists of America and left-wing lawmakers including Ocasio-Cortez, made the declaration to cheering supporters on Tuesday after winning her primary election.

"I know we’re saving the speeches for a little later, but today we really proved that socialism wins!" Gonzalez said as her supporters cheered."

Can you elaborate on your point or are you just posting this to inform?

This is the kind of information that I think will be very helpful in the vote coming up in November... just in case someone is the least bit confused about the agenda of some folks in politics.

Well, socialism has "won" many times in the past before - but all "winning" does is put socialists in a position to enact its tyrannical policies on the naive populace that enabled the win.

The truth about socialism is, and always has been, that it doesn't work, can't work, and has never worked before. Whenever it "wins" - we lose, and so too will it, eventually.

Ocasio-Cortez isn't "left-wing" by international standards. From what I've heard from her, her views are centre-left and mainstream. There's nothing radical about her, but apparently in the U.S. people are so afraid of "socialism" that they'll see evidence for it even in their dreams.

Sad we become a lazy pleasure seeking nation that does not have the drive to even do what is needed to get ahead. No one wants to work. And everybody has there hand out. So don't be surprised as more free stuff is handed out how her and her ilk get even more firmly based.

Nah.... no one is afraid of socialism. We just know it is a many times over failed political movement.

It appears to me that the socialism in our country may have hit critical mass, reached the point where there's no escaping it now. Likely it will only increase from this point until it collapses upon itself. Ask yourself how many people you know who are making their living off the government in some way or other. All of those sources may not be socialism, but it shows the number of people who are dependent on government.

AOC isn't international. She's American, as is the label, so the label fits - and fits quite well, actually.

Nuances in definitions don't really mean much, particularly when one attempts to find consensus in one [definition] globally.

"Clean water" for example has varying definitions world-wide, but you wouldn't find everyone eager and ready to drink from many nation's "clean water."

And - with all due respect - if you see "nothing radical" about her and imagine our view is just a "dream," I would suggest your views and hers probably aren't that far apart, making your views rather biased towards the [American] left - even though internationally they might be considered more "mainstream" (whatever that means, internationally).

Ahyup. "Many times over" = every time it's been tried. Eventually, it fails... every time.

No evidence? There's tons of anti-american views. Everything in the green deal is anti-american and anti-capitalist. That's 1example.
