Although I'm not sure TMZ even qualifies for the high distinction of "news media," do they?
That's an old joke.I wonder who the courageous person was that shoved the swab up the tiger's nose?
Look in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane...It's a zoonosis. We already knew that bats could get it, so this isn't too much of a surprise.
Zoonotic viruses can go one of two ways. As in the case with the hantavirus, a zoonosis can be quite mild for the animal and deadly to the human, whereas, in the case of something like rabies the virus is equally deadly to pretty much anything that it infects.
It would be interesting, though, if it turned out that all of the distancing measures we're taking amount to nothing because of an unknown animal vector, like a bird. We're keeping our six feet of separation and take no heed of the bird overhead.

To be sure. I don't have as much of a problem with what TMZ serves up as I do with the way they garnish it.A reasonable caution. Here it is as reported by the Associated Press (Tiger at NYC's Bronx Zoo tests positive for coronavirus) and the New York Times (Tiger at NYC's Bronx Zoo Tests Positive for Coronavirus), so it does indeed seem to be a legitimate report. If it can hop from humans to large felines, I'm a bit concerned for my house cat now.
Bacteria, maybe, but probably not a virus....or mosquitoes!
