Pray.... for families in the past year, that have have been ripped apart because of deportations.
...for the children who came to this country--and who know no other--that they find hope and courage in their struggle for their futures and their families.
...for those of us, not at risk or danger--that we find the courage to raise our voices, speak out and fight for those who cannot speak for themselves.
...for congress to find the courage and wisdom to fight for the Dreamers in their time of greatest need.

This is a particularly appropriate time in history to quote Martin Niemoller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

My ancestors came to this country and earned their "rights" because they got off a boat. These children ARE innocent. Many will be ripped away from their families and sent to countries they have never known. Some of them will be killed. I am a Christian who has a problem with this.

"Then He will say to those at His left hand, 'You that are accursed, depart from Me into the fire of the ages prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome Me, naked and you did not give Me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' Then they will answer, 'Lord, when was it that we saw You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of You?' Then He will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'" - Matthew 25:41-45

Really feeling the love in this thread.

Probably should have posted it in the Prayer Wall instead of the Debate subsection. Either OP was ignorant of where to post it or wanted to virtue signal.

This thread has been moved from News & Current Events to the Prayer Wall, where staff feels it will get a better response. Also, this thread has undergone a clean up to remove debating, which is not appropriate for the Prayer Wall.

Does it matter that v. 40 includes the words "the least of these MY BRETHREN"?
Are "we" changing the focus from treatment of the Jews to treatment of illegal aliens? Not debating the issue, but questioning the proper use of the Word of God in it's context.

Father, I pray that politics and it's secular bias will not be the final solution to the questions of what to do with The Dreamers, and how to proceed in the future. I pray that the needs of people can be met, and that the rights of people can be fulfilled. I pray that the law can be honored and obeyed, or changed in order to do so in a way that is pleasing to You. I pray that true mercy and justice can be served in a way that is a blessing to all people, and that is right in Your eyes. Until the time of Christ's return, I pray that You will influence people to serve in governments in ways that glorify You and help people. Amen.

Jesus never indicates that He's talking about Jewish people only, in calling them His "brothers" He makes the "least of these" His brethren.

Praying that all illegals are safely relocated back to their countries of origin until such time they can gain legal residence in the United States. Give us the courage to do what is right, without letting too much sympathy for the unfortunate make us one of them. Your will be done. Amen.
