A PK pastoring in another Church in same town as father.

I am a PK and was ordained as a Pastor in another church and am currently pastoring the branch of that church in the same city as my dad. its causing alot of confusion as my father already senses that i will take over the ministry from him. do u think am doing wrong and what should i do better?

Well I know that this is a really hard thing and I can't answer it 100% because I don't know all of the detail, but I am a PK also and know how tough it can be.

First off, ministry is NOT a competition. There are plenty of people around that don't know Christ!! If we focus on those people there should never be any competition.

If you can try to work with your dad I think it would probably go better for you both. Letting him know you aren't trying to take members and such. Again if you just focus on people far from God it shouldn't be an issue.

If this continues to escalate I would strongly re-evaluate your calling to that area. I don't believe that God wants to destroy your relationship with your dad, and so maybe it is time to move on. Don't push through it if it is damaging that relationship.

One of the 10 Commandments is to honor your father and mother, so make sure you do that. Ministry is great, but you don't want to destroy your family in the process.
