A few prayer requests

Hey guys! Coming at ya with a few prayer requests, this past week has been quite a whirlwind for ol' Fenwick.

First of all, a couple of you have been in the loop on my personal life. I've been seeing a girl I met on Catholic Match since June, long distance (as in California to New York long distance), and this past week we officially entered a committed relationship. We both said from the beginning that we were on CM because we want to get married, we're not into casual dating. There's added nuance not just because of the distance but also because she has two teenage kids to think of. Anyway, the prayer request here is layered: first I ask that the Lord guide us towards Holy Matrimony. Second, I pray the Lord assuage the anxiety that rears it's ugly head in both of us from time-to-time. We both have tendencies to be anxious, for me after a couple of days when the initial highs subsided anxiety set in, and this weekend has been a little rough for me. So I pray that the Lord continually renew our confidence in each other's feelings.

Second, tomorrow (Monday the 19th) my mom is going in for a procedure because the doctors saw something in her annual mammogram. She's kind of scared, but they don't know what it is—it could be a cyst. There's a procedure to check for that first but if it's not a cyst then they'll have to perform a biopsy. She's had a doozie of a year: got hit hard with rheumatoid arthritis right when the pandemic locked everything down, so she went four months in agony without treatment. Then in July my grandma died. My dad was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this month. She's just weathered a lot and she says she's not sure she could handle a cancer diagnosis right now.

Third, I've been pretty nervous because the same day that my girlfriend and I made things official, I got an e-mail asking for an interview with my dream job with International Justice Mission. I've been following them since 2006, they were my motivation to go back to college and get my degree, and I've been waiting for years for a job to open up with them. Well, I saw one and applied at the beginning of the month and I heard back on Tuesday. It feels incredibly daunting, I feel under-qualified for the job and I actually forgot to submit a faith statement like they requested, but they reached out anyway. The job's in DC so if by some miracle they want to offer me a job I'd be relocating across the country. The upside is I'd be closer to her but the downside is it takes me a long time to adjust to big changes, and that would be hard.

So if you guys wouldn't mind adding all these intentions to your prayers I would appreciate it. You all are in mine, thanks!

Things are moving quick! May God give His hand of blessing in your relationship and comfort you with His peace and reassurance. May God comfort your parents and guide their medical teams to good health for both of them. Praying this is just a cyst for your mom and that your father finds a manageable plan he can live with as far as his diabetes. Praying that God gives you guidance and peace in your new job prospect. I know what it means to be anxious. It’s difficult especially when so much is going on in your life at once. You’ll all be in my continued prayers!

Praying for you and your mother! (I'm not big on changes either. It takes me forever to get used to new places.)
I hope your mother can get any medical help that she needs and can feel better.
