A Christian soldier who killed innocent people on the battlefield during war, did he commit murder and sinful?
I know some Americans joined the army and sent to fight in foreign countries.
Here's a good comparison:

http://www.bibleinfo.com/en/questio...?gclid=CMv6toDpvNACFZFcfgodI-sH-g#infographic

excerpt from the page:
"Now What?

Consider what would have happened to those 75 wounded men if Desmond Doss had not risked his life to save them. You too can impact the lives of your family, friends and neighbors. They may not be on a physical battlefield, but they still have wounds—both physical and emotional—that need care. Why not protect your wounded classmate who is being bullied or heal a hurting friend with a word of encouragement? Why not stand up for what you believe, impact your world and help those who are wounded?"

First, how do you know they were innocent?

Do innocent's get killed in battle, unfortunately yes. In most cases, it isn't done on purpose or with intent to kill them. They are either there at the wrong time and it happens or it was an accident.

If they are on the battlefield, shooting at the soldier, they are not innocent.

There is a difference between killing someone and murdering someone, believe it or not. Yeah, they both take a life. One is something that could have happened accidently or because someone is ordered to fight and it happens. The other is premeditated, thought out and malicious.

I am a Vet. I served during the Gulf War. Thankfully to God, I didn't see battle. But many of my friends did. We are not taught to murder people in the Military. We are taught to defend people and ourselves from those who would do us or our allies and families harm.

If a Christian in battle kills a person, in the pursuit of a mission that needs to be accomplished. It is not murder. He is doing what God placed Him to do at the time He is there. God knows the Christians heart. He knows that his Child would rather be at home with His family than there, taking the lives of others. But it's something that must be and has been ordained by God to be done.

Don't forget, God's the one in charge. We aren't. He knows exactly what He is doing.

So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah,

This has absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand.
This is Christ, giving the Jewish lawyers and priest and good old tongue lashing about how they were running things.

nope the fact is the non-combatants die in war. As long as that soldier did NOT PURPOSEFULLY kill an innocent person it is just among the harsh realities of war.

Desmond Doss*,
most famous non-combatant IN the military in the last century, perhaps,
did not die,
and
saved many others physically,
and
produced by his faithful life
much
good results as well,
pleasing YHWH.

There is more to this life than just our natural existence. The sins of others do have consequences to the lives of innocent babies.
Read about David and Bathsheba, their innocent child they illicitly had together, allowed for by David having Bathsheba's husband killed , became sick and died as a result of their sinfulness. Regarding that baby though God was pleased with the baby, his displeasure was not against the baby but it's parents.

God also in times past has brought nations together for wars and destruction as judgements against the people. And the powers that be are ordained of God to carry out His purposes in the earth.

Romans 13:3-5New King James Version (NKJV)
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake.

If we look at most wars in history and present, they are eventually followed by some sort of peace agreement through negotiation. Years and years of war until exhaustion sets in and both sides come to some set of terms. I believe God wants us to learn how to speak with our "enemies" and learn to understand each other BEFORE we resort to killing one another. Unfortunately this is an unpatriotic concept.
IMO all killing is wrong.

YHWH'S WORD says that anyone who willfully takes the life of another, shall be put to death.

Simple.

Rejected by mankind.

Also, throughout YHWH'S WORD, the source of all wars is disclosed to those HE choses to disclose this to. i.e. HE gives the clear and simple understanding.

This also is rejected by mankind.

But it is still known clear and simple.

And those responsible are judged. (This is in YHWH'S WORD also) .

IMO all killing is wrong.
Unfortunately this is an unpatriotic concept.

Speak with one another ?
Like Y'SHUA taught ?
Be harmless as doves ?
Like Y'SHUA taught ?

GREAT IDEA !

.... (grain of salt here) ....
SO THEN, after we understand each other , after we have spoken with our enemies,
THEN we resort to killing one another ? ..... OUCH !

Jesus taught us a third way to handle violence.

Turn the other cheek
Go the extra mile
Do not fight evil with evil
If someone asks for your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them
Luke 6:29-30

This is not a middle ground to split the difference between fleeing and violence to avoid evil, but seeking a radically different way to fight evil. (Christ dying on the cross)

In this way you expose injustice, transform the oppressor, deprive the oppressor of the notion that violence is effective, etc....

Sometimes suffering is involved for the sake of goodness and truth.

Context is important. Did he walk up behind someone and shoot him in the back of the head? Did he shoot someone while aiming at someone else? Did he shoot the person when mistaking them for enemy combatant?
