A Christian soldier who killed innocent people on the battlefield during war, did he commit murder and sinful?
I know some Americans joined the army and sent to fight in foreign countries.
First, how do you know they were innocent?
Do innocent's get killed in battle, unfortunately yes. In most cases, it isn't done on purpose or with intent to kill them. They are either there at the wrong time and it happens or it was an accident.
If they are on the battlefield, shooting at the soldier, they are not innocent.
There is a difference between killing someone and murdering someone, believe it or not. Yeah, they both take a life. One is something that could have happened accidently or because someone is ordered to fight and it happens. The other is premeditated, thought out and malicious.
I am a Vet. I served during the Gulf War. Thankfully to God, I didn't see battle. But many of my friends did. We are not taught to murder people in the Military. We are taught to defend people and ourselves from those who would do us or our allies and families harm.
If a Christian in battle kills a person, in the pursuit of a mission that needs to be accomplished. It is not murder. He is doing what God placed Him to do at the time He is there. God knows the Christians heart. He knows that his Child would rather be at home with His family than there, taking the lives of others. But it's something that must be and has been ordained by God to be done.
Don't forget, God's the one in charge. We aren't. He knows exactly what He is doing.
