A boom in at-home abortions is coming

This is absolutely unsurprising!!! That's what makes it more heartbreaking. It's precisely what has long been warned about! I'm friends IRL with @Stanfordella who has worked with a prof at her school on studying abortion around the world. Specifically the Republicans' global gag rule which has been majorly counterproductive! She just contributed to a PhD student's dissertation on how this Republican abortion policy has caused a spike in abortions. In the US there's also been a rise in abortions & there will continue to be unless smart actions are taken to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies instead of continuing to fixate on abortion laws.

It feels like Republicans keep doing the same things, but expecting different results. There's been this rabid obsession with overturning Roe v Wade for decades, on making abortion laws as strict as possible. That's looking at the issue through blinders bc the legality of abortion has minimal impact on the rate of abortion. The abortion rate in the US fell to its lowest since the 70s during President Obama's administration. Better sex education, better access to affordable birth control = lower abortions. Trump undid Obama's progress, thus ensuring that the abortion rate will go up even though many of his voters voted for him bc he made them believe he'd reduce the rate of abortions. Trump is now wanting to kick millions of people off food stamps which will in turn def. lead to more families freaking out about a pregnancy bc they can't afford to feed the kids they already have. Abortion rates will go up. :(
Missouri was willing to risk losing billions with a b in Medicaid funding bc of an abortion law that doesn't include exceptions for rape or incest. That money could be spent on helping families, girls in need, to help prevent them from feeling so desperate they'd consider abortion. It's totally counterproductive!!!

Do you think that OUR generation could be the one that finally looks at the issue with honesty instead of partisanship to come up with solutions to reduce the number of abortions by working on alleviating the issues that cause unwanted pregnancies? I want to have the hope that we're not going to just bleat the same rhetoric adults have for decades now and take meaningful action!

You are in the youth section. If you're not young, please don't respond. Thx.
