I feel rather conflicted about this. The public should be informed about what is happening in society. There are extremist Muslims who are a threat to our safety. However, we also need to be aware that there are extremist Islamophobes who take out their anger on peaceful Muslims when incidents are reported in the media.

It may be fear, but I think it's something far more devious.

It amazes me just how brainwashed people are.

It's the side effect terrorism implants into a community. Don't do anything that will upset those who will die to kill people that upset them. It is a perpetual suicidal cycle.

A terrorist detonates in a bus terminal lets say. She, as a change in reporting making for a female murderer this time, screams allegiance to Allah. Let's say she also screams allegiance to ISIS. Then she detonates herself and her child.
Horrible evil just acted out amid innocents whom the murderer did not see as such. Even killing her child, as they have done in other countries, to make a political statement at great personal sacrifices.

Afterward those who sent her, or them as the case would be, watch the media reporting. And especially western journalism. From that next level they glean the understanding of just how effective their campaign is.

If the media sterilizes the true facts then the offensive faction can be led to believe their campaign is effective. Especially if this occurs in a country that advertises freedom of the press and free speech rights.

In a sense the sterilization of true facts concerning any terrorist act by whatever dedicated perpetrator is like unto collusion with the agenda of said perpetrator.
That saying? "It is what it is!"
When what is isn't openly admitted because the truth can't be trusted it is a sign that "they", whomever committed the act of evil but were protected by the lies or omissions of the press, are winning. Winning over truth telling. Over facts that did occur after the fact of the attack. And over public safety concerns. Because when a people are lied to about the very real threat to them they are unprepared for the very real threat aligned against them. And the press being accomplice is unforgivable.
