  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A good compendium. As for Rev. 4:7, the four beasts are the four sides of Israel encamped around the tabernacle, and each represents the logo of the "flagship" tribe in the center on each of the four sides. (See Ezekiel for more.) Beasts are governing powers; the beasts of sea and earth in Rev. are migrating Israel into Europe in the early Middle Ages (as the "barbarian" tribes - "barbed" or bearded Aryans; see Isaiah 29 to find out who the Aryans are) - and of the earth is Israel with fixed cultural institutions, giving it more structure and a firmer societal base, then reaching an apostate stage in a later phase of civilization. (At least that's my view of it thus far.)
I have also been wondering much about the lightning, thunder, hail, etc. which is repeated more than twice in Rev. so it is very important. Your compendium should be of use in studying this. For instance, what defines the people of God is emphasized by repeating; they 1) obey the commandments of God, and 2) hold to the testimony of Jesus. And the alert to "false Judeans" (false "Jews") is also repeated.

Next we are shown the power and authority to bring about these judgments as part of the covenant of the restoration of all things.

The 7 fold Spirit.

`And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.` (Rev. 4: 5)

Immediately we see that the 7 fold Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit is involved. In Hebrew, the word seven, means to be complete. Thus this is a picture of the Holy Spirit in His complete, seven fold ministry in relation to Christ.

This is the Spirit of wisdom & understanding, of counsel & might, of knowledge & fear (respect) of Lord God, and of righteous judgment. (Isa. 11: 2 - 4)

The 4 Living Creatures.

Then before the throne, in the midst, we are shown what seem to be `living creatures.` These are representations of the Lord`s ministries as to how He will bring restoration.

`Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind.

The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle.` (Rev. 4: 6 & 7)

The 4 living creatures are Christ`s Spirit of life, shown separately as 4 but in reality blended majestically into one Royal Divine Person, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ the King – (Lion)

Christ the Sacrifice (Heir) – (Calf)

Christ the Mediator – (Man)

Christ the Creator – (Eagle)

For Christ to fulfill God`s plan, His covenant to man, He needs to function in each area.

Christ is given the ultimate authority to rule, (Lion)

Christ humbled Himself to be the ultimate sacrifice, (Calf).

Christ is both God & man to be the Mediator of both, (Man).

Christ has ultimate power to create all things new, (Eagle).
