The 50-year-old Fr. Mignani, pastor of Santa Caterina Parish in Bonassola, said during his homily March 28, “if I can’t bless same-sex couples, then I won’t bless palms and olive branches either,” according to local newspaper La Nazione.

The diocese condemned Mignani’s actions in a March 29 press release, which said that “the matter is being assessed in the appropriate forums, in accordance with current canonical norms.”

The diocesan called it “reprehensible to omit or perform a liturgical gesture by linking it to a personal protest,” and even more so if directed against a declaration by the CDF published with the consent of the pope.

you expect Fr. Mignani to be slaughtered?

Following CCC 2357 would do. There it says "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered...Under no circumstances can they be approved."

Given the church’s lax attitude towards pederasty, this seems like a pretty minor incident.

The wolves have been in the RCC clergy for generations.

The Catholic hierarchy doesn't have the moral ground to judge homosexuals considering how many pedophile priests have existed within its own ranks for centuries. It's disconcerting to think about how these predatory monsters are often protected and transferred to another diocese by the Church.

Pedophile Priest Protected by Church

Documents show Milwaukee archdiocese shielded pedophile priests

Catholic Priests Abused 1,000 Children in Pennsylvania, Report Says

Almost 1,700 priests and clergy accused of sex abuse are unsupervised

Given the church’s lax attitude towards pederasty, this seems like a pretty minor incident.

Quoted for truth... The Catholic Church’s grim history of ignoring priestly pedophilia – and silencing would-be whistleblowers. The truth is, any moral arguments against homosexuality by Catholic priests are hypocritical rants in light of the longstanding history of predatory pedophile priests in the Church.

A better question would be: Why would anyone think that the Catholic Church is in a moral position to judge homosexuals and same-sex marriage when it is drowning in its own sexual accuse scandal?
So, two wrongs make a right?

Of course not, but the moral authority the Catholic Church likes to throw out against homosexuality is extremely hypocritical in light of its longstanding history of protecting its sexually deviant priests who repeatedly prey upon and molest young boys (and girls). I don't see any reason whatsoever to listen to the Catholic Church preaching against other peoples' sexual sins while they are actively protecting pedophile priests who molest children and have been protecting these predators for generations.

Nonsense, it turns out that sexual molesters are in all kinds of religions and organizations. That does not mean the Jesus and His teachings are less credible.

Nonsense, it turns out that sexual molesters are in all kinds of religions and organizations. and many of the people in those places are in denial. Jesus and His teachings are not less credible because of major sinners.

How about we get rid of ALL the wolves. (Those who molest and those who twist Catholic doctrine.) And how about the thousands of priest who did NOT molest--should they be forced into some kind of anti-biblical heresy?

We had molesters in my junior high. All the school system did was move them to the high school in the hopes that they wouldn't be interested in older students.

So, two wrongs make a right?

Spot on.
Its a tu quoque logical fallacy.

In any case...

Given the church’s lax attitude towards pederasty, this seems like a pretty minor incident.

The only folks who have a lax attitude to pederasty are pedarists.

Sadly, pedophiles seek out and take advantage of the opportunities which masquerading as a priest affords.

Meanwhile, in other news, there are, reportedly thousands of atheists masquerading as clergy also. Atheists pretending to be priests.

....WAIT A MOMENT!!!!

I feel that was the case in my junior high. The teachers sought out that job with the hope of coming in contact with minors.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were some, perhaps not thousands, but certainly they're out there.
