One of the other videos grouped along with this one (5 Questions Evolutionists Can't Answer) showed Obama as senator deriding the scriptures. The voiceover defense of the Bible was OK, but it missed the mark a little bit, especially in his answer to Obama’s "sarcastic remark regarding the Defense Department not being able to survive the Sermon on the Mount’s application". The voiceover said, "I can assure you, senator [Obama], that Christ would never advocate turning the other cheek to terrorists and American enemies, as your smug laughter so clearly implies". Well, first, Senator Obama was right about the Defense Dept. as we know it not being able to survive and uphold the Sermon on the Mount at the same time. But second, the voiceover's "assurance" about Christ never advocating "turning the other cheek to terrorists and American enemies" is his opinion only. The Bible nowhere records that Jesus gave any qualifiers to what he said about this. You have to be careful when someone gets really adamant about something like the voiceover did here. He sounded quite convincing, but you have to remember that he was putting words in Jesus' mouth. Jesus never said that, and nowhere else in the Bible did he ever advocate that in certain situations it is OK to return blow for blow instead of turning the other cheek. He sure did practice what he preached when his own enemies were about to destroy him. Rather, getting back to Obama, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty" (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
