We know that the devil is a liar. So he can be safely ignored and dismissed--Christ has defeated him, he is bound, gagged, and his domain set to ruin. Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, seated at the right hand of Majesty, is Lord now and always.
But here is the Gospel: God, who is rich and boundless in mercy, saves you; for at the time of God's own choosing He sent forth His Son in human likeness, born of a woman, born under the Law, to be the Atonement for us, to reconcile us to God. For having lived righteously and perfectly, surrendering His life unto death, even death on the cross, He has suffered and died for all men and for the sins of the whole world. And having been raised up from the dead He has defeated sin, death, hell, and the devil. And having ascended He sits at the right hand of God the Father, having been given all power and authority in heaven and on earth, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that He is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. And He is coming again, to judge the living and the dead, and with Him His everlasting kingdom, world without end, the resurrection of the dead, and the renewal of all things.
So that we have peace with God in Him, having received the promised Holy Spirit by the word, promise, and gift from God; by whom we cry out "Abba! Father" having received adoption as sons. By this Jesus Christ we have received righteousness and holiness from God as pure gift, through faith, and so we have been justified freely by God's grace. A righteousness apart from the Law, apart from the commandments which men in their sin fail to obey; but rather the alien righteousness of Jesus Christ imputed to us as pure grace, and in this righteousness (and this righteousness alone) we stand vindicated and holy before God, so that indeed there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and we are indeed more than conquerors through Him who loves us, and sides with us, as our Advocate and Savior now and forever.
For Christ alone has accomplished these great things for us. And these are ours, apart from ourselves and apart from the weakness and depravity of our fleshly efforts: so that the one who has faith in Christ is justified, vindicated, and set apart in Him as a child of God the Father, by grace. A new creation, having received new birth from God by the Spirit, to the conformity of God's Son, now and in the Age to Come.
Our sins are forgiven. Our hope is secured. Our life with and in God promised and assured by One who is Himself the Righteousness of God, and by Him and in Him we, too, are called God's righteousness.
Hoping, trusting, and enduring in Him, our hope is never put to shame, but we look forward in faith to that coming Day when all shall be set right, even the heavens and the earth and indeed all things reconciled, redeemed, healed, and restored. For this is God's promise in Christ, to us, for us, and for the whole world. To the glory of His Eternal Name, to His praise forever: Glory be to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, one God; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen.
