The US has 4.3% of the World's population, 20.5% of the COVID cases and 20% of the COVID deaths.

There is something wrong.
How many Covid cases has the continent of Africa had? Probably lots. How many tests for Covid have been run in Africa? Probably few. So they will be way low on official Covid cases and confirmed Covid deaths.

Why don’t you go find out if this is going to be your “argument”?
The facts that we have now: USA with 4.5% of the Earth’s population has 20.5% of the cases of COVID19, with 20% of the deaths thereof.
Probably lots.
I guess you’ll find the numbers out when you do your research, you know, for your “argument”.
How many tests for Covid have been run in Africa? Probably few. So they will be way low on official Covid cases and confirmed Covid deaths.
I’m curious why are we comparing the USA to an entire continent again?

I don't think that we should be comparing ourselves to 3rd world countries and/or countries that providing very poor data. Clearly, India, Brazil, Russia, Iran and Mexico are under-reporting, probably most of Africa also.

Also, testing rates are very low in lots of countries.

WHAT IS RELEVANT
We should use a very simple statistic: deaths per 100K of population. And, we should use only 1st world countries: individual European countries, the EU, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Japan.

We are doing much worse than others. One might note that the Asia countries listed were much more exposed by traveling Chinese than the US. Most of the US was infected by strains that traveled from China to Europe to the US.
