Next year is a big year for traditional churches:
1) The Pan-Orthodox Council
2) The Primates Meeting for the Anglican Communion
3) The General Convention of the LCMS

We should continue to be mindful of the ongoing Syrian genocide of Catholic and Orthodox Christians, which has spilled over into other regions and even other faiths.

Feel free to add.

The Primates' meeting is over. The date for the Pan-Orthodox or Holy and Great Orthodox Council has been set for June and the location is Crete. Do our Orthodox folk care to handicap the chances it proves to be more substantive than the Primates meeting? I would especially like to hear thought on the ecumenical discussion that is on the agenda and what might come of exploring a change in the relationship to Catholics and Anglicans.

It seems unlikely that too much will come of the council given that the most contentious issues relating to the Calendar and Diptychs have been brushed aside.

To recap:
1) The pan-Orthodox council fizzled like a cheap hotel match. It was boycotted by the Eastern bloc churches and the documents that were prepared were largely ponderous drivel.
2) The Anglican primates meeting turned out to be nearly meaningless, except to highlight the deep rift between the old white churches and the new churches of the global South.
3) The LCMS convention proved to be a fairly smooth affair, maintaining the same synodal President and making some minor resolutions to tighten up the edges of what is acceptable in the churches. There are still a lot of questions about what enforcement should look like and how it might be implemented.

Additional:
The Roman Catholic Church continues to collectively struggle with what to make of the document Amoris Laetitia.

Lutheran Church Canada is in the process of restructuring it's polity and separating the present responsibilities of the Synod President into two separate offices; Bishop; responsible for spiritual oversight, and an administrative office responsible for the administrative part of running the synod.

LCC Restructuring Process

Latest updates: Restructuring Update – December 2016

In my opinion, this is a great step forward for our Church.
