The story from the Wall Street Journal has a Pay wall, so no link. But the story is making the rounds. The article has statistics where crimes like rape are through the roof. The article is very indepth and the statistics are damning.

Per Jimmie Akesson and Mattias Karlsson, both leaders of the Sweden Democrats, penned a Wall Street Journal op-ed on Wednesday supporting Trump’s characterization of a Muslim immigrant-led crime crisis in Sweden.

“Mr. Trump did not exaggerate Sweden’s current problems,” Akesson and Karlsson wrote. “If anything, he understated them.”

“Riots and social unrest have become a part of everyday life,” Akesson and Karlsson wrote. “Police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel are regularly attacked. Serious riots in 2013, involving many suburbs with large immigrant populations, lasted for almost a week. Gang violence is booming. Despite very strict firearms laws, gun violence is five times as common in Sweden, in total, as in the capital cities of our three Nordic neighbors combined.”

They added: “Anti-Semitism has risen. Jews in Malmo are threatened, harassed and assaulted in the streets. Many have left the city, becoming internal refugees in their country of birth.”

“For the sake of the American people,” Akesson and Karlsson wrote, “with whom we share so many strong historical and cultural ties, we can only hope that the leaders in Washington won’t make the same mistakes that our socialist and liberal politicians did.”

Does anyone realize what DJT is doing? News like this that is not new, that MSM is not reporting, he'll let something about slip and then the MSM has to report it. Of course they spin it a thousand ways but DJT is controlling the media. I love it.

Would you like me to share the rates of violent crime for Sweden and the United States, that you might understand this issue a little better?

Rupert Murdoch is notoriously conservative. In NY, besides the WSJ, he also owns the trashy tabloid NY Post.

I object to people using phrases like "notoriously liberal" or "notoriously conservative."

Political liberalism is a very good thing, and political conservativism is essentially an offshoot of it (the former dates to the early 18th century, and we see the emergence of the latter in the 1770s with figures such as Edmund Burke).

The WSJ is hardly a bastion of conservativism. It's less right wing than the UK Telegraph.

It's a huge distortion to call all of Rupert Murdoch's media assets "alt right." I don't think any of them are.

Yes, but Jayson Blair, the lying, unscrupulous slimebag journalist, worked for the notoriously liberal New York Times, not the New York Post.

Which pretty much tells you all you need to know about both newspapers. ;)

Is it fear, or is it prudence and foresight? I am reminded of the old joke:

A police officer makes a traffic stop on an elderly lady for speeding. Asking for her driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance, the lady takes out the required information and hands it to the officer. In with the cards he is somewhat surprised to see she has a conceal carry permit. Looking at the lady and assessing her advanced age, the officer asks, "Ma'am, do you have any weapons in your possession at this time?"

She responds that yes, indeed, she has a Colt .45 automatic in her glove box, a 9mm Glock in her center console, a Smith & Wesson .38 special in her purse, a .40 caliber Sig Sauer in a shoulder holster under her sweater, and an antique Model 1873 Army revolver under the front seat. The officer blinks a few times, and then asks, "Ma'am, what are you afraid of?"

Looking the officer right dead in the eye, the lady replies, “Not a damn thing!” ;)

It is fear, far out-of-proportion to the actual threat.

I am sure that Sweden has some alt-right politicians, too, and I imagine that the legislators who wrote letters to Rupert Murdoch's publication, the Wall Street Journal, might be part of that contingent.
When you go to Sweden, or England or France for that matter, just ignore people who advise you in where not to go for safety reasons. Then you can report back first hand what you see. Maybe someone will label you 'alt-right' and discount you too.

What I see is DJT inventing an unsubstantiated story because he has no filters and like-minded people scouring the media in hopes of retroactively substantiating it.

I only hope the riot the day after was not inspired by the alt right to help a man who talks before thinking.

More likely by people who want to take control of their country, or what will soon enough be their country, part of greater Europistan.

In the meantime, Fox News attempts to verify these random allegations about Sweden---by choosing a Swedish national security expert no one ever heard of!
When you go to Sweden, and then you ignore the advice to stay away from certain areas and get mugged because you aren't Muslim, if you say anything about it, no one will ever have heard of you either except for a few people here, one of whom will kindly tell you "I told you so". You can rail against the president all you want. It's still a free country.

Being mugged in a country makes on a national security expert in that country?

I notice no one mentioned the fake Swedish security expert touting fake news. No need for this thread anymore obviously. It's just a hoax..

That absolutely was a fake "expert". You know what's real? People (left or right) who directly and loudly distance themselves from the evil policies their favored politicians favor and demand change.

No. But it might provide a clue. We, if it happened to you or me, would still be someone nobody has heard of, and thus easy to ignore.

The discussion as to whether Sweden is a hotbed of violence due to its humanitarian acceptance of refugees.

Fake experts say it is.
