I would love the site you are using.. I have been looking at worldometer, live science and local Dept of health for figures

well depends on what you use for the curve, there is certainly a slowing in the new rates, it's not doubling any more, it's still going up but like 10k 11k, 13k over the last few days.

24th was the highest at 11,000+, surpassing the 23rd with 10,000+ which surpassed the 22nd with 9000+. Today there is almost 6000 new cases and still climbing. The curve is only bending because the day isn't over.

The US has 60,000 cases and China 81,000 cases. 2 days ago the US was 40,000 so the curve right now is not looking promising. The US will surpass 100,000 cases, it's just a matter of time.

Now 7500+ still climbing...

11,000+, the day is not over yet. If this continues the US will hit the top spot over the next 2 days then the "Chinese Virus" will turn into the "American Virus"

The report is in, over 13,000 new cases for the 26th. Now the counter has reset. It's getting worse and the US has surpassed 1000 deaths. With numbers like these there's 1 more day until the US is on the top of the list.

because the particles are bigger, when you breath out your breathing the viruses plus moisture and such, when you breath in the viruses are by that point mostly by themselves. Think of it as a net that catches baloons filled with marbles that people are throwing one way, and the other way is people throwing marbles.
I suspect that the focus of that explanation relied entirely upon size exclusion, neglecting charge exclusion. One might wonder whether a dry virion has more or less electrostatic attraction to the mask material than a water droplet.

Projections would indicate that by the end of the week US will lead the world in the total cases of those infected with the virus. There is no indication of it slowing.

What is the US doing so differently that it can't get a handle on this?

Europe is still doing even worse...

The China number is the benchmark and the US will surpass it and be the new leader. You're right that it would be more fair to compare the EU with the US (or that China numbers are wrong) but the lists don't do that and in a couple of days the headlines are going to be about the US having the highest amount of cases in the world, above both Italy and China. You can call it unfair but like it or not its going to happen and saying it's unfair doesn't fix the problem. The US should be more focused on flattening the curve than shifting the blame.

The numbers really do not mean so much. We don't know how many carriers there are who have not sought testing or been denied it. The possibility of anomalies is limitless.
Tell that to the headlines in a couple of days when the US is leading in cases. like it or not its a stigma and the US should be focused on slowing the rate of infection because whatever they are doing doesn't seem to be be effective.

The press is going to talk up the epidemic to create panic and send the economy into a tailspin. The curve at this point has already been set and the US dodged a major bullet by imposing a travel ban early. That's the main reason why Europe has been hit worse.

Our president's an idiot who doesn't what he's doing, surrounded by sycophants who feed his ego even as he says and tweets insane things that lead to the impression that we're going to beat this in a matter of weeks, so people are not taking it as seriously as they should. There's that on the government side. And on the larger society side, because so many are not taking it seriously, it is spreading very quickly from asymptomatic people to people like me (went out to get groceries yesterday; came home with groceries and a fever). And I've been self-quarantining as best as I can, and wearing a mask when I go out, etc.

This is a perfect storm of stupidity. We're going to pass China in no time, assuming we haven't already (most people are not getting tested, so we have no real way to know the true numbers).
Sadly after reading about a doctor who was refused being tested who knew they probably had the virus over 4 weeks, it is running riot.
The only barrier is self isolation, so it's speed of travel measures a societies ability to succeed. USA is failing, sadly.
This is literally just the beginning, peak 6 weeks off, maybe 12 if isolation kicks in.

Africa is the dread. No isolation, no medical backup, just contagion. We need to pray for them. On the positive side their average age is younger, so it might not hit so hard.

May the Lord have mercy on us all.

9k, 10k, 11k, 13k. That's not a slowing that's a speeding up. These are daily totals of new cases not cumulative totals. Each day the total count of new cases surpass the previous day. If it were slowing down you would see 9k, 8k, 7k, 6k etc... We want to see a lower number than yesterday not a higher number.

The numbers which mean something are the deaths ...

Its like the Olympics. We check the stats every day and like always China and the US are on top then a bunch of European countries. This one however is not about celebration.

Uh, no (if I'm understanding you correctly) , PSAs are almost exclusively for head knowledge, and do pretty near completely zilch to untrain habits.

They're pretty handy when a tornado is heading your way.
