Of course the difference in likening it to "prison" is not that the building is good or bad, it is more the idea that they don't really have the freedom to leave on their own, much less on the spur of the moment, and when they do leave they are escorted by armed "guards." By contrast, Trump was talking about the physical building being a "dump."
Trump's taste in interior design reminds me of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, best known to Americans for Disney copying his Neuschwanstein castle in their Disney theme parks. Of course, Neuschwanstein was never actually completed, at least the interior, so doesn't measure up to Trump's standard.
Instead, you need to look to
Linderhof Palace, the one Ludwig II actually completed. It looks like the type of place Trump would build, if he were to rebuild the White House.
