Maybe THAT's the slip-up that has engendered such animosity. No, it wasn't the Republican Party that elected the president; it was the American people.

Technically, it was the electoral college... but point made. It was the Republican party that nominated "an obnoxious and distasteful game"... and promptly embraced it. Better?

(On a side note, remember when scandal-ridden Roy Moore was running for Senate, and the GOP senators proposed not to allow him had he won? Nobody actually believed it would have come to that, do they? That would require scruples...)

So if we want to discuss why free elections are supposedly obnoxious and distasteful, then at least we'll have the issue properly defined.

Looks like "nominated" was the word I should have used. Plenty of other options were presented during the Republican primaries.

But the GOP voters wanted something new and novel... so a novelty they got.

More correctly, the press played a big part in elevating Donald Trump above the other Republican contenders. No doubt the press believed Trump would be the easiest to destroy and so they delighted in giving Donald press coverage. Not that it matters much now. After all, Trump has probably already enacted more policy improvements than any of the other contenders would have.

Just wanted to set the record straight. If the news media had actually been doing its job in 2015, and for that matter during the previous eight years as well, there would have been little need for the partisan divisions we see now. Of course, a big part of the electorate seems to have little interest in non-partisan news so there's that, as well.

...thus absolving the GOP voters of any and all responsibility for their words and actions.

Donald be praised; the media really is the Enemy of the American People.
