As Christians, what should our responsibilities be for women who suffer abuse the world over?

In recent weeks, the Bush administration has cited declining violence in Iraq as evidence of the success. Earlier this month, President Bush said that Iraqis are slowly "taking back their country."
But last night, NBC Nightly News aired a segment about a "wave of violence that's gone largely unreported lately against women in Iraq." The report noted that Iraqi women, once "the most emancipated in the Arab world," are increasingly unable to walk around without a hijab, wear cosmetics, or work. Watch the report to your right. well, let's see, they're liberals, and moral relativists.

Hello jiminpa,

I do know about moral relativism in this case. What they are saying is that there were no legitimate sources for their assertions. I think most people knew well ahead of time the Baathists are secular and not Islamic. It is completely obvious. That connection was manufactured and everyone knows it. You have also chosen to ignore the facts and attack the personality. This particular piece on PBS just happens to agree with facts and common sense but is simple a good representation of it. The war has failed in almost every objective I can think of.

* Stability in the Middle East? No.
* Hearts and minds of the Islamic world? Are you kidding?
* Benefit the Iraqi people? They are resorting to prostitution to feed themselves.
* Stabilize oil prices? Its a $100 a barrel.

No one has gotten anything out of it and we are hated for it around the world.
Bush led us here and I admit I voted for him. I doubt I will ever vote for a Democrat or Republican again.

We have just redefined success by looking at a reduction in violence.

The war has succeeded in it's primary mission: to eliminate a terrorist hub. The fact that the Iraqi people are better off is a bonus.

When liars who believe that the truth is whatever they make it, report what they want the truth to be, and create the evidence of it in a studio I don't believe them.

How many times does the liberal media have to get caught staging their evidence before we question their credibility?

How is standing idly by and watching terrorists kill our children pro-peace?

jiminpa,

You aren't listening. It was not a terrorist hub. There was no evidence of terrorism coming from Iraq. That is the point. And there is no way you can possibly argue this has been good for Iraq. Did you not follow the link about prostitution in Syria to feed themselves? The country is ruined probably for several generations.
As to the other comment you could just kill everyone to keep your family safe. The point is that Iraq was in no position to threaten anyone.
Also, I don't think that the dislike of the US abroad is staged by the media. I live in an international city and I know such people. I also doubt the dead soldier down the block was staged either. The blown budget alone is evidence this is a catastrophe. It was not going to cost us a thing remember?
