    Rome and the first church

I can't really help you with the numbers, but I came across this site: http://www.catacombe.roma.it/welcome.html For those who haven't seen it and are interested, it's very informative. A lot of stuff and details there.

    Party Favorites...finger foods

I know it's past time, but surely we can do better than nothing! Appetizers are my favorites and I'm always looking for ideas. One that worked well for our Precepts class was Vegetable Bars..... 2 pkg. crescent rolls 2 8 oz cream cheese 1 c. mayo 1 pkg ranch dressing mix Any kind of...

    Zechariah 2: 6-11

I agree that it is Jerusalem/Zion that is being spoken to, but the confusion is who is doing the talking. The number of "angels" and the use of the Lord of Hosts with Yahweh confuses me. Is the pre-incarnate Messiah the Lord of Hosts or Yahweh? I thought He was both. By the way, thanks for...

    "Bishop" Robinson Heads to England

Kiwimac....What gave you the impression that I was a "right wing" ranter? God does judge. Sodom/Gormorrah, the Canaanites, Israel, Ananias/Sapphira, the incestous man in 1 Cor., etc.... God's love is expressed through Jesus Christ, whom He sent to pay the penalty for sin, so that...

    "Bishop" Robinson Heads to England

"If people are indeed born with it then I think that qualifies as a God-given trait". NOPE! We are born "in Adam" full of the sin trends that resulted from the fall. If our sins were God-given, what would necessiate the need for Jesus Christ? Mankind is constantly on the look-out for a way...

    Jer 16:15-16 and Mat 4:19

I don't necessarily think so.... The Jeremiah verses are talking about God bringing His people back to the Land from which He had dispersed them. In Matt. Jesus is calling these men to draw people, through the Gospel, out of the Kingdom of Satan into the Kingdom of God

    An opinion on Prophets.

Without a doubt, mine is Jeremiah. He's so human and normal. Jer. 15:16 helped me when I doubted that I was a "genuine" Christian. His frustration in Jer. 20 must speak to everyone and in Jeremiah, I first began to understand the New Covenant and it's ramifications to Christians.

    Zechariah 2: 6-11

Could someone help me understand who is talking to who in this passage? You have the: LORD (Yahweh) LORD of hosts In vs. 8, the LORD of hosts is speaking and it appears He is still speaking in vs 9 and yet says that "then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me."...

    Can Christians lose there salvation?

The study of rewards is huge. I believe Scripture uses language that we can understand (crowns, ruling cities, "be made a pillar", etc.) to describe rewards and honor that Jesus will give to those who faithfully serve and obey Him. Some verses to check are: 1 Cor. 3:13-15; 2 Cor.5:10...

    Can Christians lose there salvation?

I loved that, Brother in Christ. This is a hotly and long debated subject, so I know that anything I say will never convince anyone, so I won't try. I'm one of those who believe that Christians, once saved, can not forfeit their eternal life status. I do believe, however, that Christians do...

Does your church divide people up?

SonWorshipper....Thanks! and I wasn't sure what those "blessings" things meant. I don't want to come down heavy on the subject. I just see, at least in the churches I've been a part of (only 2) that each group tends to form clicks and not even intentionally; they just have common...

    Can Christians lose there salvation?

I have to admit that I have not read the ENTIRE thread, but like most everyone else, I'm not unfamiliar with this topic. The issue is can a "Christian" lose his/her salvation? No way....if they are Christ's. Different personalities handle these issues differently. Mine is meloncoly (sp) I...

Does your church divide people up?

I've become concerned how the American churches tend to divide it's congregation up into groups; kind a' like here. There's the young marrieds, the teens, the singles and us over 50's. Did Jesus do that? Did the early Church? I see a fragmented community of Believers that are segregated by...

Where do you go for your source of news?

I always knew something was wrong with the news, but didn't know what it was until....Fox News came to our town Jan. 2000. Praise God! It's the only Network News I watch. I like Wash. Times, Lucianne.com and Jerusalem Post.

    Atkins Diet

Here is a source of Lo-Carb recipes. http://www.synergydiet.com/low-carb-recipes.html I am not really overweight, I just hate this "pooch" that I have developed! I went on the Atkins for just 2 wks and noticed a difference, but I have no real self-discipline. I know that I am a...
