Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

Here are some excerpts from an article on the net: "A. B. Traina is the father of the Sacred Name bible. His corruption of the King James Version was the first such bible. On page five of the preface of his bible are these words: "The name of the Son, Yahshua, has been substituted by...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

More good points Shmuel. Yahshua will not transliterate to a Greek scriptural name. Yeshua transliterates perfectly to Iesous using the rules that govern this process. Some teachers have stated that Yahshua means "Yahweh is our salvation" Where would the 'our' come from? In order to get Yahshua...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

Many of the people who promote the name Yahshua, often try to say that Jesus is a pagan name derived from zeus. There was a discussion recently on another forum where Yahshua was the popular name used. One of the 'teachers' on that forum had written a book where he had stated that Jesus had the...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

The name Jesus has an eytmological pathway that takes it back to Yeshua. It is an English name that came from the Greek, (some say Latin between them) which came from the original Hebrew, and doesn't claim to be anything more than that. Yahshua has no pathway, and is errantly promoted as the...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

Here is a post that was on Messianic Apologetic: While we are on the name issue, below are some statements that I have heard many times over the years: "The name of YAHshua has been replaced by the names of Jesus (geezeus), Iesus, and Iesous (ea-zeus or healing zeus) which are...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

No argument there.Referencing Biblical Hebrew and wanted to keep it simple, but thanks for the further elaboration on the modern sephardic pronounciation. I was waiting for you to post, but thought that you went away. Nice elaboration, and yes, it is a made up name. So why are the supposed...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

Okay, I guess I will start the ball rolling. The name Yahshua does not appear in the Hebrew scriptures. What you will find there is Yehoshua (#3091) and the shortened form Yeshua (#3442-#3443). Yehoshua is pointed with a shva, so it is pronounced as Yeh, not Yah. Yeshua is pointed with a tsese...

Names of the Messiah and Hebrew construct

Many of the scholars in this movement have put forth that the name of the Messiah is Yahshua, Yashua, Y'shua, and other variations of these. The name Y'shua means different things to different people. Some will tell you that it is a shortened form of Yahshua. I believe that this is an error...

I concur Shmuel. I saw a copy of his latest book, and in it he stated the following as fact. "ROOD-imentary Explanation Y'shua: a common, compound name in Hebrew (in English, "Joshua") Where does it come from and what does it mean? Yah: the short form of the name of the Almighty---Yahweh...

Yod, Could you please be specific on what information that you are referring to. I have been in this movement for many years, I have have seen a lot of things on that site that was dead on even before it was general public knowledge. That site is tough on all groups that are teaching error...

For those who love using the CJB ( Complete Jewish Bible)

I think you need to put the whole writing up Jasmine. I remember being on Messianic Apologetic a while back observing a discussion about lashon hara. Moshe Schulman from Jews for Judaism, who is a Yeshiva trained Hebrew reading orthodox Jew discussed the fact that if someone is just speaking it...

Avi's teachings are feel good theology that is in error, and change at will.. That forum has all sorts of opinions flying around on it. JFJ founder is just one of the many. Jews for Judaism is another. Quite a selection huh? I beg to differ. That forum is a mess, and full of unprovable...

Correction Jasmine. I says that all false teaching will lead to that. Are you saying that the Hebrew roots movement doesn't have false teaching? What disgusts me is people that preach another Messiah and another Gospel, as many teachers in the hebrew roots movement do. Why don't you tell...

For those who love using the CJB ( Complete Jewish Bible)

Are you Jewish Jasmine, because it appears that you do not have the Jewish understanding of what lashon hara is. If you speak the truth to protect someone from stumbling, it is not considered lashon hara according to rabbinic interpretation.

Messianic Apologetic is not really about Hebrew roots. If you are oing there for the feel good theology of roots you will not find it there. It is about Messianic Judaism, and is run by a Jewish believer named Schmuel from "Noo Yawk" city and is full of Jewish contributors believers and...

Jasmine, In your earlier post which you toned down (thankfully) you commented about the link that I posted being from a site that is anti Messianic. I would suggest that the site appears to me to be anti- falsehood on all accounts (church included) and is far from anti semetic. The site that...

For those who love using the CJB ( Complete Jewish Bible)

I do not know if you have seen any of the stuff on the net Jasmine, but the HRV is kinda controversial. The HRV was discussed extensively on Messianic Apologetic forum, and also on this forum. http://biblicalholidays.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1252

For those who love using the CJB ( Complete Jewish Bible)

The hebraic stuff is interesting in the CJB, but it is a very weak paraphrase, and should not be used for serious study in my opinion.

He was also discussed on a huge Messianic forum where a lot of Jewish believers and Jewish non believers hang out.The comments below are from the moderator, who is a Jewish believer. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Messianic_Apologetic/message/9099...

After re-reading the reviews, it appears that they were written by a Messianic or hebrew roots person.
