what is a vow? I think I've bound myself in knots

I think that you have been given some very good advice by the above posters. Repent of your hasty vows, and come before God anew. He's more than happy to wipe the slate clean...it's kind of his thing. It sounds like you also have a problem seeing sin where it isn't...this is a specific...

The difference between the canon for the bible between Catholics and Protestants?

This is a pretty poor argument for a number of reasons: 1. We don't know whether Jesus quoted or alluded to these books as not everything Jesus said or did was recorded in the scriptures (Jn 21:25) 2. If this is a requirement for Canonical inclusion, we need quotes from every OT book. Which...

Pray to the saints is spiritually harmful, here's proof:

Off topic much? The simple answer is "It isn't true." Sounds like on of those traditions of men we hear about. Or one of those strange teachings Hebrews talks about.

    T/F, No Participation in Tridentine

Hello. In my Sacred Music History Class the following True/False question was asked: "It is valid to say that although the congregation were praying during (the Tridentine) Mass, for the most part they were not really "participating" in the liturgy." I marked "False" and got it wrong. So...

Which Mass Do You Prefer to Attend Regularly?

I chose Novus Ordo, but I have a few stipulations: Namely, that it be celebrated correctly. The Novus Ordo is just as sanctifying as the Tridentine and Eastern (Although, I do hold a special place in my heart for the Eastern Divine Liturgies) ICEL (which is the english Translating body for...

    Mantillas

I put no, because the Church says they don't have to. I think it should be a matter of personal devotion. I really respect the tradition, and wish more women would participate it. It's a beautiful representation of the woman as the Tabernacle, as (almost all) tabernacles used to be covered...

    A Question for Roman Catholics.

I myself used to be a firm defender of evolution (with the "Catholic Clauses" as I like to call them), but recently I have been finding evolution easy to find fault in scientifically, and spiritually I am beginning to lean more towards a more literal creation story. The "True Myth", as G.K...

Do you have a holy water font in your home?

Holy water in my home? Heck! I've got it in my pocket! (in a tiny bottle...keeps it from looking like I had a holy accident.)

    Youth 2000

I went to a Youth 2000 a few years ago, and it really brought me closer to Christ. I made a good confession (which I hadn't done for quite awhile) and even cried in front of the blessed sacrament (me crying is a very rare occurence). It was powerful and moving, and I would go again.

    The Vagina Monologues?

It isn't ironic, because she is speaking poetically. There is nothing wrong with describing parts of the human body in a beautiful and inspiring way--"hymen" just doesn't seem to portray the same sacredness as "veil". But maybe the only way that Dr. Alice can say anything worthwhile is if she...

    Wicca

I have a friend who is looking at wicca. I need help, because I don't know enough about the subject. Some of the problems she is having with Christianity are a loving God allowing people to go to hell, knowing which belief is correct, and others. Does anyone have anything they can do for me...
