I know of no scripture that elevates a priest above that of the common man when it comes to forgiving any man's sin. Without the scripture to back the theology of any church, one must not accept it.

Sorry to be so late in getting back to you. A Friend quotes these verse as proof that the Catholic Priest can forgive sin, because Jesus told the disciples that they had the power to forgive sin.
