I'm not sure how this answers the question. Why did 99% of his creations die? Or are you saying God had nothing to do with those millions of species?

99% of all of the species that have ever existed are now extinct. What is the creationist explanation of this? Was God just practicing his "creating" before he got it right? Why would he create billions of creatures and untold species simply to have them die off? Puzzling.
