    Apologetics, Whoo Hoo

So I've lately been blessed with reading John Frame's, Apologetis to the Glory of God. And I am absolutly loving it. The presuppositional approach is just brilliant to me. Has anyone else made themselves a student of this branch of Apologetics? I want to read Bahnsen next, I read his debate...

    Is it really this Bad?

I was over in the General Apologetics room and I got midly involved with a thread with the question of "How can we be more righteous than the Pharasees"? I think people are actually trying to answer this question as though it is merely more exhortion. Basically, here's what Jesus said they...

    Doug Wilson???

To see just how bad the communication is between the Aub Ave./Fed Vis and the mainline PCA is right now, read Brian Chapelle's paper on it, then read Richard Lusk's response to it. It sounds like it's time to get all these guys around a table and lock them in, they need to figure out what the...

    “Praying Backwards” by Bryan Chapell

Excuse me? What exactly did I say to merit this kind of response from you? You said you were assuming he was arminian, I gave his position to correct your assumption and that is all. I never said I wanted to do any such thing, nor have I read the book, or supported the book. Who said I...

    “Praying Backwards” by Bryan Chapell

I guess I'm having a hard time figuring out how you read, " The reason for the unusual title is to insert the end of a prayer into the beginning, at least silently. When you pray in Jesus’ name, you need to understand that you are declaring that the prayer is being offered to the Father by the...

    “Praying Backwards” by Bryan Chapell

Eh, Bryan Chappel is the president of Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, he's a far cry from Arminian. In fact he's defending the Historic Reformed interpretations of Paul from the New Perspective proponents in the PCA lately.

    My confusion....

Here's what I got Arminianism= The will was not so affected by the fall as to have left man without a trace of goodness, there is still an "island" of righteousness. Also man can still muster up in himself a desire for God. Calvinism= Man is completely and utterly spritually dead. There...

Roger Smalling, D.Min 1. God would not command us to do what we cannot do. Or ‘God would not command us to do what we cannot do.’ God gave the Law to Moses, The Ten Commandments, to reveal what man cannot do, not what he can do. A. This premise is unscriptural. God gave the Law for two...

While We're on the Subject of Total Depravity...

Well basically Pelagius got set off by Augustine's prayer of " "Command what thou will; and give what thou commandest." Pelagius believed in the power of the human will. "If I ought, I can." Basically Augustine saw that we are helpless to help ourselves. God created man with the ability to...

Need to get back on fire for God...

Fast and pray...you'd be suprised how low and humble one can become when he abstains from feeding his fleshly desires. And don't just fast until you get that first hint of discomfort or headache and then go eat a meal. That's when you should ask for strength IMO.

Why didn't you deal with the text he presented, and try to reconcile the two verses instead of just blowing off those that were in disagreement with your view?

40There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. 41There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory." Which next verse...

    some basic questions

I'm pretty sure the answer was contained in the same post It is not based on who we were, who we are, or who we will be. It is not based on what we've done, what we are doing, or what we will do. It is soley based on God's will for his creation.
