Shall we change the forum name?

The word "Lutheran" should be in quotes, though.;)

Shall we change the forum name?

Correct me if I'm wrong here... The name of the forum is Confessional Lutherans You said: Looks to me like you're saying that Moravians are Confessional Lutherans.

Shall we change the forum name?

The emphasis must be on the Third use of the Law. We drink not to be admitted, but because we have been admitted!

I don't doubt that at all. But this is to show without a doubt that cigarette smoking is in fact damaging to one's health. To say it doesn't is just nonsense.

Shall we change the forum name?

And what would that motto be? "We like beer"?

Shall we change the forum name?

Moravians are not Lutherans. Why cant they have their own forum? Isn't that the point here, whether or not to have a discussion group for true confessional Lutherans? "Augsburg Fortress"... hmmm... the ELCA Publishing arm... sounds appropriate for this group. Doesn't solve the probelm...

    For Our Lutheran brethren ...

Isn't the "holy grail" considered a relic? Lutherans have nothing to do with relics. The 10 Commandments have more of a real meaning for us as Christians than either a relic or a single language (and archaic one at that) translation of Scripture (although I'm putting down Scripture at all!!)...

    Does Heresy Exist?

The water-ice-steam thing is absolutely awful. I never heard of the apple analogy. One that I have heard used is the analogy of a man who is married (he's a husband) who has children (he's a father) and who is a surgeon (he's a doctor). There isn't three men there, but one man. Yet he is all...

That was uncalled for! I do think that violates a rule here. I think if you re-read my post, it says "public places". The last I knew, that doesn't include "private places". If someone wants to run a restaurant where the smell of cigarettes overcome the taste of food, and if people want to...

    Something that Everyone should know...

It is irrefutable that tobacco products are harmful to human health. It is irrefutable that tobacco smoke causes death. It is also irrefutable that some people are more suseptible than others. Some can smoke for 9 or 25 years before the ill affects are made known, but it is inevitible. Tobacco...

    Something that Everyone should know...

I don't believe that I said anything about altering one's diet to prevent cancer. I was alluding to the fact that diets in various parts of the world effects longevity. In the US, our high fat, high calorie diets have an affect on our overall health. This is but one factor in longevity. Does...

They're trying it in New York, which has the highest tobbacco taxes in the nation. The problem is that the Native American merchants don't need to collect the state taxes and therefore can still sell them cheap.

This one's been argued to death. Tar is a carcinogen. Carcinogens cause cancer. Some have higher levels of tolerance to carcinogens than others. Oh yeah? It killed my mother. How many people in that chart smoked but later quit, thus increasing their life expectancy? What about other...

Enough with the "lets all join hands and love" threads of refuse.

It's better than your "whatever you want to believe it means" way of interpretation. From Mirriam-Webster: "Reform - 1b. to amend or improve by change of form or removal of faults or abuses" If you knew anything about Lutheran history you would know that Luther was attempting to remove the...

Something that he hasn't grasped yet. I would suggest that he get a copy of the BoC and read it.
