    Why Are We So Judgemental?

It's a defensive mechanism. If somebody has screwed over a lot of people in the past, chances are he'll do it to you too given the chance.

    Are Human Corpses sacred?

QFT When I'm dead, my body is just flesh and blood. I don't care what you do with it.

By what mechanism does time move forward?

When you are walking down the street you have control of your legs, right? You can choose to slow down, run, or just fall on your face. Your brain controls your muscles and the change in speed is relatively easy. Changing your speed through time is not so easy. The only way we know how right now...

Abortion, help needed for my religious studies revision.

So you're asking us to do your homework for you?

Christianity or satanism, which is most central in our culture?

Please. Society is nearly the polar opposite of Satanism. The Nine Satanic Sins should convince you enough.

Are there such a things as right and wrong?

Moral relativism is morals with a brain. Absolute morals do not take into account the situation when making decisions. Going back the Nazi example (I haven't put time into coming up with other ones), if you had absolute morals that said lying is wrong you would not be able to lie to save hiding...

Have you seen the movie, "Saved!" ?

Sounds hilarious. It has Mandy Moore in it though, right? Not too hot on her...

Are there such a things as right and wrong?

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I suppose I'll answer it anyway. Moral relativism has to do with the fact that morals are relative to a given situation, group of people, or culture. Lying is okay when Germans are asking you where hidden Jews are, but it's not okay on your taxes. A set of...

    The Ethical Problem of Evil

This argument hinges on the fact that it is not logical to know a "random" variable with certainty before it happens. It is perfectly logical to know it with certainty after it happens. For God, there is no "before" or "after"; He doesn't experience time like humans do.

Court: Schools can ban hurtful T-shirt slogans

Regardless, it's distracting to students. The last thing we need in public schools is another distraction from learning.

Court: Schools can ban hurtful T-shirt slogans

I don't think this is unreasonable. Schools are not the appropriate place for those kinds of slogans. I wouldn't expect a "white power" t-shirt to fly with a school administration either.

    The Ethical Problem of Evil

What if it was my son, who isn't yet born in the present? It doesn't matter that he knows what choices you will make when he created the universe, he still hasn't made any choices for you.

    The Ethical Problem of Evil

...what? This thread has nothing to do with that. We're talking about the omniscience of God and its effect on free will.

    The Ethical Problem of Evil

I think your premises are not quite right here. If I travel into the future and witness my brother kill a man, and then come back to the present, have a chosen for him to pull the trigger? Regardless of my knowledge that it will happen, my brother will still be the one to choose to kill the man...

If a tree falls in a forest

Not exactly. Decoherence says that a macroscopic object interacts with its environment so much that its wavefunction collapses whether there is an observer or not. So, just like Schrodinger's Cat, the tree does make a sound if it falls, even if no one is around to hear it. I suppose that's...

    Whats up with God?

It is easier for organized religions to keep ahold of the masses if they claim God works in "mysterious ways", instead of admiting that there are no present day miracles.

    neutral person seeking answers

TooCurious has some excellent advice. If you are as yet religionless and want to find the one that best fits your beliefs, you're going to first have to evaluate your beliefs and decide what is most important to you. From there you need to do research on religions to find out what is most...

    Ever get sick of Christianity?

Sounds a bit like me, albeit more dramatic. I'm pretty sure this is the "Ethics and Morality" forum though, not the "Pity Party" forum.

    Polygamy & Infidelity

The difference is animals are unwilling. If you were to try to equate it to a human-human act it would be closer to rape than homosexuality. This is a digression though, and I don't know why the laws are like that, though it does vary based on where you are.
