Does the Catholic Church believe . . .

The problem is that the same people will accuse the Church of being both things. To hold clearly contradictory stances is irrational and can only be held by those who will "feed thier prejudice" regardless of the facts. BTW, I am fully and painfully aware that non-catholics have not cornered...

Has anyone struggled with the Trinity in their life?

I had to smile when I say that. Bishop Fulton Sheen told a story one time about his experience teaching a Cathecism class. After a full hour of teaching a class on the Trinity, a lady came up to him to thank him for doing such a good job of explaining that now she completly understood the...

Does the Catholic Church believe . . .

It has always amazed me that part of the non-catholic world thinks we are universalists and another part thinks we are exclusionists. I guess whatever feeds the predjudice for a particular person will do.

Huge Question: If you were born and baptized as a catholic but later on as a child...

Not to be answering for the previous poster, but I think the absolution part is not for having abandon a faith the never truly were taught but the absolution that is part of confession. There is no culpabilty for someone who was not raised Catholic.

Has anyone struggled with the Trinity in their life?

What Shannon said! I used to struggle with it, but I figured smart people then me couldn't completely work it out so I will go with what the Church says. If I can't believe the Church on ths one I have no business being a Catholic. If it depended soley on my ability to intellectualize the...

    this bothers me

hawko, I have been in your situation before. Let me give you some advise. Do some serious discernment about your parish. I wasted two years in a parish that seemed to try and hide Jesus for the people @ Mass. There was little reverence, no kneeling during the consecration and the handshaking...

Enough abortion, politics and private revelation, I got a REAL problem

If you are using full rack make sure you peel of the thin membrane on underside of the rack. It is real thin but if you don't take it off it is hard for the marinade or rub to penetrate.

Enough abortion, politics and private revelation, I got a REAL problem

CC, I would love to help, but here in the South where I am from par boiling ribs is an automatic DQ. Same goes for using Charcoal. Hardwood fires only. I know that is hardcore, but they take it pretty serious around and in Texas as well where I used to live.

Let's have a serious discussion about pro-life and this years election

Please reference the agriculture subsidy bill passed this year. Bush vetoed the most disaterous farm subsidy bill in history, only to be over ridden by Congress. I can reference many other examples of the limited role of the President in shaping legislation. Contrary to popular opinion the...

Let's have a serious discussion about pro-life and this years election

The abortion battle is waged in the Court system, not the legistature or Executive branch. If you care at all about abortion, visualize how the Supreme Court will be configured after 4 or 8 years of Obama. Pro-life? I think not. Secondly, Social reform is more a function of the legislature...

    Catholic Question

Jack, Nothing in what you posted describes any thereputic use. By definition of your previous quote from the CCC, the "drugs" they are refering to have thereputic uses.

    Catholic Question

Certainly, opium and its derivitives have been used for thereputic uses for centuries. Cocaine as well. We could debate Marijuana, since most of its thereputic effects have been after the fact so to speak.

Nicotine is not a drug. There are no real thereputic uses for it outside of assisting with helping to withdraw from dependency.
