Word-Faith?

The big difference is, when you look into the research, the truth is found. However, when the teachings of Word of Faith teachers are examined, one finds them to be accurate. Sure, I've heard tons of "Those are miss-quotes!!" Over and over again. Of course, I've yet to be shown where those...

Thanks for the reply. Let me start by saying if you want to use sarcasm, then by all means, step up. I'm always ready for assuming someone else is stupid. But if you want a calm discussion, cut the cr@p. Now, the problem is not one person making bad claims, and that reflecting on...

However, a lot of teachers praised by the Word of Faith movement have taught just the opposite. (Salvation by faith is an exception, but I didn't want to mess up your quote.) Part of the big controversy in the Word of Faith movement are it's teachers statements on the trinity and divinity of...

I hope you don't mind me speaking up for a moment. I think this is a good example for those of us who are against the Word of Faith movement. 90% of what is taught is good, solid teachings. It's that 10% that concerns us. If a movement was 100% controversy and false teachings, no one would...

Yep. I'll take an insult as well as dish it out. I'm a nice guy, and I'm a jerk. I'll be the first to admit it. Didaskalos is cool though. Even though we disagree on some things, he at least is kind in everything he writes.

Great post TM. It was written in normal language. Now please, explain what you mean.

Do what you want, write what you want. I'm just saying we don't understand what you're saying. You might as well write your posts in swahilli.

I'm a one of a kind kind of guy. My point is this... As much as I appriciate your stance against the Word of Faith movement, no one on here can understand you.

That would be fine, yeah. I just got some shoe polish and shined them up all nice too. They were starting to look grey, but now they're a shiny black. And after tedious taskes, I tend to rub my eyes and stretch. Just a typical response to boring routine.

I was going to put, "write in English," but I knew you'd respond with something like, "I am! The King's." So, I put American English. What's the difference? The English would say you write like a tart, while American English would say your writing sucks, and we can't understand you. Great...

Tentmaker... I'm completely against the Word of Faith movement. Most of those on this thread know that. I say this so you know off the bat I'm not against you. Do us all a favor though and type in American English and not like someone who's been reading too much Shakespere. I've only been awake...

    Christianity and the fish symbol

I'm surprised no one noted that when Christians met in private, the fish often was drawn on places as a pointer to where the meeting was. It was a sign of direction as well.

I never said it can't be. I do think God prospers only certain people though. Anyone who's seen VH1's behind the music can tell you money isn't good for everyone. Luckily, God's will is greater than our own, and He chooses those who can serve Him best.

I found this kind of interesting. Elisha is listed as a man of great faith, yet died of an illness. You can read about it in 2 Kings 13:14- "Now Elisha was suffering from the illness from which he died..."

The faith is found in believing God will provide. Faith despite the situation is what glorifies God. I've seen more faith in the person dying of cancer though still praising God than the person in my church who got a new car.

    Word-Faith?

Here's the problem though. Many teachers within the Word of Faith movement are preaching that if you need a car, you should pray for a Mercedes, Lexus, Rolls Royce, etc. Why? Because Jesus was rich, and so should we! If you're not rich, it's your own fault. There's a huge difference...

    Word-Faith?

I do think there's a big difference between witnessing and saying what good things God has done for us, and praying things like, "God, you said in your word that I can have whatever I ask, so Lord, I need a Mercedes."

Taking God and turning Him into some divine Santa Claus that gives us whatever we ask like greedy children is way out of bounds. In the words of Steven Curtis Chapman, "God is God and I(you) am(are) not."

Because it's not what is being said. If it were, that'd be awesome. I wish we didn't have to get sick. But just because it's something I want, that doesn't mean I can twist scriptures around to support it. You're assuming again. None of us on here against the Word of Faith movement have...
