Perhaps one of the Greatest mysteries of the Bible

When I read scripture I am always inclined to ask, "What does this text say about Jesus?" I do so because He is the driving force behind all revealed and inspired words. The account of Melchizedek seems to have been included for the one simple reason that God chose to do so to reveal something...

Do you believe Baptism is essential for Salvation? (2)

I agree with Max Lucado when he wrote, “"the human mind explaining baptism is like a harmonica interpreting Beethoven: the music is too majestic for the instrument. No scholar or saint can fully appreciate what this moment means in heaven. Any words on baptism, including these, must be seen as...

    from Russia

Sasha, Welcome to CF. I don't really have a story to share right now. I was just reading your post and had a question. I had the opportuntity to spend several weeks in a neighboring country - Belarus - this past summer. I taught in a seminary while I was there, though that is illegal...

    Christians' views on depression

Hey, I'm afraid your remarks reflect a reality that is sometimes accurate. Of course, to characterize your concerns as "Christians believe..." is not accurate. Some Christians do, unfortunately, disagree with medically indicated forms of treatment which are proven effective in the treatment...

"everlasting" Gen. 17:8 and Gen. 17:13

I understand this to mean that circumcision was a sign given regarding the everlasting covenant. Covenant seems to be the object of the descriptive word "everlasting." So, I don't believe that circumcision is being described as an everlasting sign.

    Suicide in certain situations.

No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

    The "perfect"

I have considered a couple of the points already submitted as possible interpretations of this passage: 1) the perfect being a reference to the completion of Scripture 2) the perfect being a reference to the end of all things. I would like to add yet another possiblility. I am a preterist...

    The Last Disciple

Anyone read The Last Disciple? I finished it this week. As a partial-preterist I found it to be right on. I haven't read Christian Fiction in a long time. I really enjoyed it. How do you think it will be received?

    Restoration Movement?

My beloved graduated from Nursing school at Harding in May 93. Its a good program. I remember having to be a guinea pig for her when she first began her clinicals. She drew blood from me for one of her tests. She's been drawing blood ever since ^_^ but I love it. I really married up the...

    The Last Disciple.....Anyone Reading It?

I began reading The Last Disciple yesterday. I am 1/3 of the way through. It is a great read thusfar. It is from the partial preterist slant. If you have been into the Left Behind stuff you might want to leave it behind and check out the "other side." I've been a partial preterist for a...

Looking for a Chart of NT Scriptures with Partial Preterist Slant

I have a really helpful chart that I found online that lays out the Old Testament Scriputures in a chronological fashion. You can look at my attachment for an example. I tried to include it in my posting originally but it didn't translate over too well. Hope the attachement which is a bmp file...

Evangelistic oversight is what I beleive you are referencing. And espcially among African American churches it is a common practice (and commonly accepted). It is different but I don't believe it contradicts scripture when no qualified shepherds exist. Of course that brings up a whole new...

    Restoration Authors

Carl held many views in his lifetime. The one you are referencing is one of them. He was born to a Lutheran family (his parents were Luthern by name only according to Ketcherside). He became a Christian as a teenager and was part of a very conservative group. He was a preacher in a...

    Bible Trivia II

10 After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10). God gave Job ten children later in his life. So Job must have had 5 children before they were killed. Who led a rebellion against the authority of Moses...

    Restoration Authors

I saw that Wes made a post about a great book by Joe Beam. I thought I would add a note about one of my all time favorite authors within our movement, Carl Ketcherside. If you have never read Ketcherside, then you should add him to your reading list. His writing has been a significant...
