It was relatively warm, but the stream made my legs and hands go numb.... It's not a hobby...it's for a class :P. it's just larvae...they're not into mature bugs yet...though we did catch a crawfish!

No, we were stream hunting for larvae, and there's a part where you're supposed to "dance" in the water to kick up dirt and bugs...and I was dancing..[we were already in the stream] and fell over. It was exceptionally funny.

In some cases, it could be true, but don't expect it to happen to you as soon as you stop looking. I've closed my eyes and haven't run into anyone at the moment. I'm not planning on running into anyone either :)
