    Anyone else love Nature?

I love nature, or Nature. Though I will admit that there have been times it's been a Stockholm Syndrome sort of love, especially during tornado and hurricane seasons.

    This is painful

The point of the video is that people cite the psalm, but don't think about the words. It's cute for kids to recite passages out of the Bible. As I said, it's a catchy, simple, and comforting metaphor. But are the kids understanding the words, or are they just rote memorization and...

    This is painful

Heh. I saw this video after seeing a trailer for a documentary about Escuela Aribe (go look it up). Psalm 23 is, in a word, catchy. It's a friendly, idyllic metaphor and "feels good." I see the video's point, that calling oneself a sheep, and giving self-control/self-determination (for...

    Negativity towards Wicca

The Druids were a priestly class within Celtic society, not a separate group. Celts practiced human sacrifice and head hunting, taking enemy heads as trophies after a battle was not unheard of. Considering some of the existing records of the Celts come from the Romans, they might be a bit...

    One Way to Heaven thread

From a logistics standpoint, taking over the Summit/Compaq Center was a good idea. Relatively immediate move-in, onsite parking, and not as many permits as a purpose-built, new construct. The humor, for me, comes from some of the bands (listed here) having played there, and now it's a church...

    One Way to Heaven thread

Alright, here's my discussion contribution. It's a bit of a stretch that any non-Christian who has heard of Jesus hasn't heard of the Trinity, or of God's Plan For Salvation, or that the Mechanism of that Salvation is a Relationship with Jesus. Knowledge of that connection and Acceptance of...

    Perspective

Back in my day, Mister, we had NINE planets, and that was the way we liked it. It was good enough then, and you're wrong with your charts that only list eight. ;) I could go either way. Thousands could die in a battle with no progress by either side. One person in the right place at the...

    Muhammad in the Gospels

Did you look at the link? I thought the large table listing all the books that are and aren't included in different versions of the Bible was rather useful. She wasn't asking which subset or branch of Christianity you are, she was asking about versions of the Bible. Where is Muhammad in the...

    What's Wrong With Wicca?

This is also known ans the Gaia hypothesis or Animism. Reverence or consideration is not the same as worship or fealty. Mr Hangraaff is espousing a frequently given Christian position that glosses over that nuance. This is all correct, though it's a bit closer to the Ethic of Reciprocity...

    Christmas

I've known a few American Christians who also do this, on the premise of the Feast of The Epiphany. One stated the "After Christmas" sales a lot of stores have also helped.

    *~*~ THE FRUITCAKE CAFE ~*~* (4)

I think the ending of Tron: Legacy should have included Tron turning blue, then rising out of the ocean in front of the assembled masses of The System, saying "Greetings, Programs," then emitting a blue wave/pulse. Would have been a nice symmetry to the original. But then, I enjoyed Tron 2.0, too.

    Losing my faith

Ash (can I call you Ash?) Others have already mentioned "bad apples" in a religion. Others have already mentioned finding a new group, or what "being a Christian" means, and other pieces of advice. Whatever your decision is, is your decision. It won't be easy, but again,it's your decision.
