    "virgin" in Isaiah 7:14

I want to say it's only been there for a few months, though I may be wrong. Also, if you have $14 that you're just dying to spend, you can get a cd with pdf versions of both the DuTillet and Munster texts: http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID4776234P4494193-Books/DuTillet-Munster-Hebrew-Matthew-CD.aspx

    Gaza Reverting To Egyptian Control

While Israel's withdrawal from Gaza was hailed as a Palestinian victory, it appears Egypt is taking home spoils from the current terrorist war. Egypt lost control of the Gaza Strip to Israel during its wars against the Jewish state in 1948 and 1956, though Israel promptly left the territory in...

I dont have to celebrate Christmas!! yeehooey!

Actually, it just depends on how you define "traditional." In this case, I'm using it in the sense that the observance of Chanukkah isn't explicitly commanded in the Torah. Yeshua didn't view all tradition as bad, as can be seen in the scripture you quoted. ;)

    Pork

Yet another possibility with these verses has to with idolatry. At that time it was a very real possibility that meat bought at a market had been sacrificed to idols, as well as an offering from a batch of wine being offered up to some foreign god. Instead of promoting isolation from the...

Aviv found--When will you celebrate Pesach?

Here's a question for you: What would you do if you wanted to observe on March 26th, yet the community you belong to is celebrating in April?

Pastor wants us to be associated with a bigger church

The esteem SDAs give to the writings of Ellen White (I think that's her name? ) has always concerned me...

The God we Christians believe in is a divine sadist.

As much as I'd like to think I could do better, I'm sure the world would be much worse with me in the role of God. ;) I also feel that reaching out to those who need it helps me to better understand the love God has for me. Having my every need looked after would not make me thankful, it...

Enoch: What Was So Great About Him?

I've been reading Traditions of the Bible by James Kugel, and came across this little bit (Bible verse provided before the quote for reference): Genesis 5:21-24 "The passage says that Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah; the clear implication is that before Methuselah's birth...

Discussing the Didache - Chapter 1

I don't know that this is specifically a Didache question, but in reading the above, I've realized that I have a hard time grasping the whens and whys of fasting. Anyone want to help me out? :)

Discussing the Didache - Chapter 3

 :P Okay, I'm not going to type the whole thing, though I could as it's pretty much 1 paragraph. ;) The name of this thing is The Didache and the Noachic Commandments, and it's on page 508 of Judaism and the Origins of Christianity by David Flusser. He then points out that this...

Discussing the Didache - Chapter 3

There's a really short essay in Judaism and the Origins of Christianity that mentions a chapter of the Didache that originally started with the Noachide laws, and I think it was chapter 3. Unfortunately, that book is at home, so I can't check it out until later tonight.

Discussing the Didache - Chapter 3

Discussion of chapter 1 can be found here, and chapter 2 here. Continuing in our discussion. ;) Chapter 3. Other Sins Forbidden. My child, flee from every evil thing, and from every likeness of it. Be not prone to anger, for anger leads to murder. Be neither jealous, nor quarrelsome...

    Jews for Jesus

I tend to agree. I've heard a few less than positive stories about some of J4J's evangelical techniques, which make me a little wary of this group.

Sanhedrin Rabbis Discuss Sublime, Procedural Issues

Actually, the Samaritans still offer an annual Pesach sacrifice at Mount Gerizim. (The Samaritans, however, are a topic for an entirely different discussion. ;))
