    Memory Verses

When a protestant there was a list of verses to memorize to prove OSAS, etc. Is there a similar existing list for the Catholic position? Many such verses have come up in two threads recently. I just wondered if I should start writing them down to make my own. Thanks! Willis

    I was very rude...

and I am not sorry. Two young Mormons just came up to the door. We saw them coming up the walk and my kids egged me on to do something funny. I opened the door and said; "Oh! Hi! Are you here to bid on the lawn mowing job?" They said; "No. We are with the Church of Jesus Christ"...

    Santorum dropped out.

I am of mixed emotions about this. I know that it is best for the Republicans to have a strong candidate now. I don't really like Romney. We shall just have to wait and see what happens in November.

    Prayers for my co-worker

A co-worker has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. A 4 cm tumor at the entrance to the stomach. Five year survival rates for this type of cancer are very very small. Please pray for him and his wife. They are both mid-60s and childless. Thanks.

    Predestination

Predestination is a well accepted fact of Catholic theology. There are two schools of thought; Thomism, based on the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas and Molinism. Thomism is quite similar to the Reformed or Calvinist idea of Predestination. Molinism allows for a far greater idea of Free Will...

    Divorce Question

Is filing for divorce a mortal sin? My friend's reason is that they just don't love each other any more. I think that reason alone puts it into the mortal category. He disagrees. Can he receive absolution for this?

    The merits of changing parishes.

I converted to the Catholicism several years ago. I have been attending a parish close to the college where I teach. I started there because of convenience in meeting withe Pastor and the ability to attend at least one daily mass a week. The pastor was young, energetic, and very orthodox in...

    PC-USA approves gay clergy

I was an Elder in the PC-USA. The move away from a biblical standard for faith and church rule to a societal standard was what drove me out of that Denomination. The deciding Presbytery vote has been cast which removes the marriage and chastity provision from the rules. May God have mercy on...

My MIL, Caroline, has been failing for quite some time. Last week, though, she suddenly took a big turn for the worse and her lungs filled up with fluid due to Congestive Heart Failure. Non-Christian Protestant denominations

I know that this is a volatile subject, but the teaching of the Catholic Church is clear. The words in bold in 818 say that those people whose denominations practice a valid baptism are Christians. Baptism is considered valid if in the Trinitarian Formula What is the Trinitarian formula...
