    Calvinism huh?

I second everything CyphaPSU said. That's the gist of Calvinism/Arminianism, without the spin.

Yeah, Fall 2005 will be a splendid event. (to add in, since I didn't say before: of course, I'm also a Hoosier's fan. I just choose not to act like it this year)

Hmm, sounds like something flippant a Wildcat would say. Pfft. Haha. I'm all about U of L, though they have two things going against them: being in C*USA and being U of L.

New Christian Music or the Old Hymns?

The other day on Albert Mohler's radio program, a caller brought up the subject of the feminizing of the church with contemporary worship. Theology has been nixed, and "Jesus is my boyfriend" songs have been replaced. I believe there are several contemporary artists out there who have been...

    For Those of Reformed Theology

Greetings, Jesaiah. I, too, am glad to hear that you're searching out God and reformed theology. I suggest the following articles, especially the first, if you want some good reads during your quest: http://www.antithesis.com/conversations/easychairs.html...

    Ohioan Thread

E-Beth, I'm not a Buckeye, but I'd have to say Cedar Point for their hospitality, workers, and coasters. The only good things King's Island has that CP doesn't: free water park, Delirium, Top Gun, Racer, and a better kiddie land. Yep, Sandusky is where a part of my heart remains.

    Indiana

I'm South-Central, north of Louisville. Charlestown, to be exact. So since this is an Indiana thread...anybody's thoughts on NCAA Div. I basketball? (the sad thing is I'm not being sarcastic)

    Explaining Calvinism and Arminianism

Though this is long and exhaustive, it does a great job of explaining Calvinism and Reformed Theology through a series of questions and replies in an interview. http://www.antithesis.com/conversations/easychairs.html Cheers.

Waiting to kiss unitl you are married!

"The longer your 'no big deal' list is before marriage, the shorter your 'very special' list will be after marriage." -Josh Harris Just one reason why I'm not going to kiss anybody other than my husband. Other reasons: I'd fall into lust, coveting the guy's body, or some other off-target...

    Contentment

That's such a great verse to apply to singleness. Unfortunately, I'm not discontent for the main reason that I'm not ready to marry, and I don't even know if God wants me to marry in the future. The aforementioned verse reminds me of Prov. 21:1, and how God is in control of my life, so I...

    Delerious - Anyone heard of'em?

I don't really dig a lot of Delirious' new music, but I really enjoy their first two label-released albums, "Cutting Edge" (recordings made while they were solely doing praise and worship) and "King of Fools." The Spirit's really in their worship songs, and it's cool to feel Him move through...

A degree you might want to look into is in Missions specifically. The degree I'm seeking is in Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth, for instance. A Masters in Divinity gives one good background, though.

Christian Dating, is there such a thing?

I don't know if I'd consider Christian "dating" as sinful, but I just don't think it's wise. Though the Bible never thoroughly addresses dating, it does emphasize marriage and the sanctity within. Why date somebody you wouldn't marry? That's emotionally and mentally prostituting yourself...

    Major?

I'm working toward a B.S. in Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth with the intent of working with international missions. Random: There are a lot of early education majors in this thread.

    College Students Neglected??

Just to add a little hope: I live in a college town, and almost all the churches in town go out of their way to accomodate college students (and students' wallets).

    hard to believe

Humans don't have the capacity to make these decisions. We're sinners, and because we're sinners, we're depraved (Romans 8:7). We're not capable of good (true goodness). Before anybody has to turn to God, first God has to softern their hardened, sinners' hearts. Romans 8:13 says, "For if...

    Do you trust GOd's word?

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I keep seeing a repeat of "man's interpretation" in regards to Genesis. I don't really understand what there is to "interpret." God said he made the world and everything in it in six days. That's what happened, then. Yeah, I do think that some things...
