Made in 'the image of God'

What exactly does this mean  I periodically have debates on a secular site with a non-believer about the existence of God. He is quite an aggressive debator and one of his principle arguments is that, if we are all made in the image of God, why do humans commit evil? He believes...

100 Days that shook Ramsey Street

One for the Neighbours fans, as you can probably tell  As the Liverpool FC had a series called "100 players who shook the Kop", I got the idea to start an equivalent thread for Neighbours. What events stick in your mind, be they recent or from the 80s? I have only watched Neighbours...

    Had to post this

I saw this on another forum yesterday (not a christian forum). The person was replying to someone who asked if people were scared of Islamic terrorists, in the wake of the recent attacks. Terrorist for me means someone who causes fear, so in a way chavs who go around committing violent acts...

    National Secular Society

I've not been on their website for a few weeks but last time I had a look I was disgusted by the bile against faiths on there, mostly Christianity. It should be renamed National Fundamentalist Atheists Society. These groups like to point to terrorist attacks as an argument against faith but...

    Bye Bye CF

I've decided to take a break from CF, or at least the serious forums for a few weeks. I am sick of the heavy handedness of the mods (not the UK ones they are ok). Plus I seem to be getting myself into trouble lately so I'll go somewhere more tolerant of slightly outlandish views.

Crime - surely the solution is obvious?

Now this may seem extreme to some but surely the obvious answer to growing crime is to make EVERY form of crime worthy of the death penalty. If this was brought in, everyone (or nearly everyone) would be too scared to commit any sort of crime. Ok, death for shoplifting might sound very harsh...

    Wemb-er-ley...

Just booked my ticket for the England v Brazil game at Wembley on Friday June 1st. ^_^ Just hope the tickets don't get lost in the post! :prayer: Anyone else going to this game or the new Wembley in the near future? :)

    Hillsborough petition

On the Government's official site someone has started a petition to be sent to Tony Blair asking for there to be a new inquiry into the Hillsborough disaster. Let's not forget people lost their sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers in this disaster so I'd like people to take it seriously...

    Friends Reunited

Has anyone else ever had problems with Friends Reunited? I went on today to see if there had been any updates and for some reason I didn't get a welcome message, it just put me through to the Login page. I typed in my email and password and it said 'email not found', I tried all my emails just...

    Weekend activities

What's everyone doing at the weekend? I'm going on a supporters coach to watch Crewe Alex FC play at Huddersfield tomorrow. Then on Sunday I am off to visit my sister at uni in Birmingham. Can anyone beat me in terms of miles travelled? Sure someone will. Steve

    Question for atheists, really...

...although being human I haven't exactly behaved perfectly, this has been a time of spiritual renewal for me. Over the last year and a half I have had occasionally wondered about God's existence but I have been feeling that most of the evidence and my experiences of God and other christians...

    forgiveness - why?

Why the heck should someone feel guilty about not forgiving? I have heard it preached that someone can't go to heaven if they don't forgive, but isn't non-forgiveness just another sin? And secondly, God doesn't forgive without repentance - otherwise why do people go to Hell? My own issues of...

    Elton John

Says all religion should be banned because he claims its teachings are homophobic. Let's look at it from the opposite perspective. Imagine the outcry if someone said homosexuality should be banned because it's offensive to [some] religious and non-religious people?

    Question...

If a girl describes you as her "new best friend" even though you've only just met that evening, what do you think this could mean? Some people suggested it might just be an everyday joke. Just wondering if people think it could mean more than that. Could it be her way of trying to flirt with me...

    Free Christian dating sites?

Does anyone know of any free of charge christian dating sites? I have found a few on Google but they all seem to charge and as I'm a poor student just coming to the end of my degree I'm not really in a position where I can afford large amounts of money just to join a dating service. I have...

    Bitter Atheist watch

Just being browsing some of the 'religion and beliefs' groups on Yahoo! and made the fatal mistake of looking at the Creation & Evolution section, here's what's on the front page of http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DebunkCreation/: Examination of the arguments made by creation "scientists" and...

    Problems with Myspace

Have made various attempts to register for Myspace this week and it just won't let me. I've tried deleting cookies, I've tried different passwords and even doing it from different computers but I still can't register. Is there anyone else who had problems with it this week or had trouble when...
