    questions

Wow has it been a looong time since I have been on here. That being beside the point I have a question. Does God have a bad humor. I mean I feel God calling me to full time ministry. However, not as a pastor. Let me tell you that finding ministry opportunites out there that do not require a...

How 'Spirit-filled' are the services at your church?

Let me start by kind of answering the question. The church I currently attend has two services. One that is very traditional (not quite as litergical as I would like but close). One that is contemporary (not anywhere close to a saddleback or Brownsville but some praise and worship). Now my 2...

    Wesleyans on Salvation

We believe we can ask for salvation at anytime. In the privacy of our room or amoung thousands of people at the beach or at church at the alter. never fear to ask questions here though we are a helpful group and hope to help all commers better understand. (by the way welsome to WP)

    Attn Wesleyans, help:

Most larger Methodists churches tend to be a bit more "high church" and can get a bit formal. However, that is changing quite a bit too. It really does vary from church to church. The church I go to right now is way too traditional for me but they have a strong outreach ministry and have...

    Thank you to the SA

I wnated to post here how much recently the SA helped me and my family out. We did not have a place to live and we stayed at a local Salvation Army Homeless shelter. Thank you SA and praise God for a ministry that still enacts what God has called us to.

    Called by God...

Discerning what God has for you can be difficult. I think the first thing I would do is pray that God make clear to you what it is that he is calling you toward. I would do that each day. Secound I would talk to my pastor. Pastors are very good at helping in areas of discerment and at the...

    From Methodist to Nazarene

I did the opposite I grew up CotZ and then moved to the UMC recently. I would say that what this person said by in most part is true, however, it depends on the church. The current UMC that I am going to reminds me a lot of the CotN that I grew up in. I would guess that you will find that...

    New to the Methodist Church

I meant only that here in WP she opened a can of worms. Mostly wherever you go there are not huge differences in these two churches. As far as OSAS even in the UMC there are people who believe it, although the church in itself does not. Finally I have a question. Have the Baptist churches you...

    New to the Methodist Church

Have you opened a can of worms or what. Although the person here who stated that the only thing methodist about there church is the sign sound funny that is not true about the mjority of UMC's. It would ring pretty much true about the church that I am currently going to as well but I live in...

    Hi!

About what the difference between Catholic and Methodists you would probably find them very close. By in large the Methodist church is only two degrees of speration. Catholic-Anglican-Wesley. Liturgically it depends on the pastor of the church. I visited a church in Lexington, Ky a few weeks...

Any Other United Methodist Lay Speakers Here?

I have been a lay speaker in the past, however, I have not spoken for a long time. I am going to a new church now also and need to speak to the pastor to see if I can get recertified or what I need to do. I got to speak once at church (and this was a church with alot of layspeakers about 13 or...

Since when did we become Buddhists?

I think you may be reading a bit too much into the picture. I remeber some months back there were actual TV commercials for the UMC. These commercials went as far as to state that one not even need to go to church as long as they believed in God. (Parapharsing a bit but that is pretty much...

Since when did we become Buddhists?

In regards to your statement about "it doesn't tell others what is distinctive about Wesleyan Christianity...." I could not disagree more. I would argue that having "Open minds, open doors...." and showing people with alternative worship styles, depicts a church with openess. Openess to new...

    Why are you a Methodist/Nazarene/Wesleyan?

I am a UM. I have been in many different churches with many different teachings. However, I find that I really like Wesleian theology. A theology of helping others, holiness, and spreading God's word. I also enjoy the UMC church because even though there is a book of disapline, and some...

    Help with a biblical question

Well it is closer to the fact that I was talking of the 12 disciples. These disciples are specifically listed in the Bible. However, I thought that I rememebr reading that there were also 12 apostles I thought this was a differnt list. I knew the deffinition was different just from a Biblical...
