Genesis 5 - Was Methuselah killed in the great flood?

http://www.kidspot.org/discover/creation/longevity.html According to this chart, Methuselah's name means "When he dies it shall come" and suggests the flood started right after he died.

    The KJV and pronunciation marks

That is what I meant, pronunciation marks over the names of people, places, etc. It is annoying when I read the book of Jeremiah, for example, and have to read Jer-e-mi'-ah every time his name is mentioned (and that doesn't include the marks over the letters). It would make sense if there were...

    The KJV and pronunciation marks

I have only been reading the bible regularly for two years, but it seems to me that more and more KJV bible come with "pronunciation marks" over nouns. Am I the only one who finds ponunciation marks EXTREMELY annoying, and that they render a Bible totally unreadable? Maybe I am a bit paranoid...

    Gender neutral language

I can see that. And personally, I am not picky about what other people use as their bible version. They all get the message off fine. I just would rather see something accurate. If they wrote mankind in the original text, let it say mankind in English. Sure, they really mean humankind...

    Gender neutral language

Why would someone buy a Bible that has gender neutral language (for example, "son" translated as "sons and daughters"). A lot of new Bibles are using this. If the Bible literally uses male terminology, why change it to be gender neutral? I am curious if anyone has any arguments for it.

    Justified Violence?

Throwing over tables and ejecting people from an area is different than smashing someone's face in or shooting them.

    Justified Violence?

Show me one passage where Jesus fought back when struck, and I will believe that violence can ever be justified. Now that I think of it, I seem to remember a little passage telling us to "turn the other cheek". Jesus did not say "When struck on the cheek, slap back" I guess that verse is...

    Justified Violence?

In Christ physical death does not mean being destroyed. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and...

    Justified Violence?

Romans 12 17Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written...

    Drug and alcohol abuse

About 24 hours ago, I was in the depths of a alcohol and marijuana binge. This has been my life as of late. But, this one ended differently. I ended up walking out of the situation and calling for a ride. This is not going to be my life. I am quitting all intoxicating substances. I am...

    Born Again Equals Christian

John 3 1There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3Jesus...

    Christian involvement in war.

We are to love our enemies and pray for them, not fight them in war. We are to turn the other cheek, not retaliate with bombs and guns. Vengance belongs to God, not man. It breaks my heart how many Christians are pro-war.

Do we live in a depraved body?

The way I see it the body is a worldy thing. The world is sick and dying of sin.

    Marriage

What can't two people live together as man and wife, and consider themselves ordained by God, as they are both born again Christians? Kind of like asking for forgiveness. I don't think a priest needs to mediate between man and God, man can know God directly through Christ. Why then do a man...

I understand those verses say wife, not wives, but many good men in the Old Testament have multiple wives. Jacob, David, etc. Were the children of Israel concieved in sin?
