Yes, rebornfree, I think Manchester Polytechnic became part of Manchester Metropolitan University. I'm sure Manchester has changed a lot since my year there. The church I went to was called Ivy Cottage and it was close to college and to my digs. C-child x

... I was too slow on the uptake, Paisios, as I have never watched Still Game! No wonder I didn't recognize Craiglang. Many blessings to you, Paisios.

Glasgow has changed such a lot over the years and I can't remember Craiglang. My family lived in north Glasgow for many years and in the centre of Glasgow (Townhead) before that.

Thank you rebornfree. Many years ago I spent a year studying at Manchester Polytechnic (as it was called then) in Didsbury. I really enjoyed it and had lovely digs in Holmwood Road.

Thank you Paisios. Edinburgh is lovely and, although I have never lived there, I have relatives in West Lothian. When my niece was learning how to use a computer she always called the mouse ... the moose ... West Lothian accent!

Just joined - and out of my depth

Thank you rebornfree. I am giving her space. Being honest, I have to say that I miss her although she is in my prayers. I had lovely afternoon tea in the sun outside yesterday with another friend. I didn't know about the Golden Eagles so I'll look for it, thank you. C-Child

    Prayer request about a friendship

Thank you LoricaLady. I'm grateful for this prayerful support. I really want a God given outcome to honour Him, bless my friend and release me from the distress I feel. Not easy but truly want to give thanks and praise God - who does all things well. C-Child

    Prayer request about a friendship

Thanks Mayflower1. In saying inordinate I mean nothing untoward or (don't want to be indelicate but ...) nothing physical. What concerns me is that I tried (very unsuccessfully) to talk to her about it and she wouldn't hear of it - saying that, as far as she was concerned, nothing had changed...

    Prayer request about a friendship

I'm a single lady, Mayflower1 and that's why I mentioned that the friendship is platonic (maybe that was the wrong word to choose) and not inordinate - I hope that makes sense and sorry for any confusion. I have just edited my first post here to make it more clear. Thank you very much for...

    Prayer request about a friendship

I have been glad of the opportunity to join and chat on this Forum. I am in a difficult and upsetting position in a friendship of longstanding (Christian and wholly platonic - nothing inordinate or exclusive) with another single lady - we are both unmarried ladies in our early 70's. The...

Yes Albion. There are so many possibilities. Having shared, and been glad of the insight here, I feel better about stepping back a bit. I've been really upset about it and it's been very helpful just to talk about it, gather my thoughts and benefit from the insight of others, thank you..

That could be right, thank you klutedavid. Just once, over a year ago now, she shared with me that a neighbour of hers was becoming too close and was becoming a bit 'Too familiar.' C-Child

Thank you, Carl. I have not said anything about this to anyone. Superficially it looks as if our friendship is as good as ever. Seriously - she would be livid if I said anything as she enjoys an excellent reputation. She is 'friends' with influential folks in Leadership. Although I am far...
