    Inquirers/Catechumens

I guess we had to expect eventually someone would show up and start calling other people names. We had a good discussion going with some respectful disagreement and a good exchange of information, then someone had to show up and start calling other posters names. So now I'm a 'Greek Chauvanist'...

Who practices the Jesus Prayer regularly?

I have purchased some books from them, they seem pretty reliable. I think they advertise some of their products as made by Monasteries? I'll have to look into it more.

What is the primary language of your liturgy?

I'm in the midwest near a major urban area that has a fair amount of 1st and 2nd generation Greeks. We're a smaller Church and there are a few larger GOC in the area that probably use more English, so the 1st language Greek speakers tend to come to us. The Byzantine Greek is mostly the Divine...

Depiction of God the Father in icons

When I see all that gold it makes me think of a Buddhist Temple in Thailand or something like that. A bit of gold leaf here and there is fine, but that's over the top. Wow.

Who practices the Jesus Prayer regularly?

I'm in the midwest USA. I know some monasteries in America fabricate them, I'll have to search around and see what's what. Are any of you familiar with the 'Ancient Faith Store' site: Ancient Faith Store

How many are taking advantage of Livestream servcies?

Both my wife and I have received both vaccinations of Pfizer, but my state is currently leading the nation in new cases of COVID. So, I'm not sure if I'll attend Pascha. The vaccine is effective, but it's not a guarantee. And I understand some of the COVID variations are present in my state...

What is the primary language of your liturgy?

We do more Byzantine Greek than English in the Divine Liturgy. As you noted, the Creed and Lord's Prayer are done in both languages (w/ Modern Greek). The Gospel and Reading are done in both (w/ Modern Greek).

Who practices the Jesus Prayer regularly?

Part of my interest in getting a Chotki/Komboskini is to encourage me to remember. Every time I touch it I'll remember.

Who practices the Jesus Prayer regularly?

Interesting that you mention that, because one of the reasons I've been reciting the prayer recently is to address anxiety issues. It helps me as well, by keeping my focus on prayer and not letting my mind wander into anxious thinking patterns.

    Watching Religious TV channels?

I'll consider it. I really don't watch much TV anymore. Old TV series from the 1960's and 1970's on MeTV, on occasional National Geographic documentary, an older movie now and then. Very rarely I'll watch an athletic event, but not often. I've got the basic cable TV package with no movie...

What is the primary language of your liturgy?

In the Greek Orthodox Church the primary language we use is obviously Byzantine era Greek. But, I visited a Coptic Church with a friend who was a member a few years ago and was surprised they used a fair amount of Greek in their service. Actually, they used Greek, Coptic, Arabic and English in...

A Pastoral Letter to the Clergy from His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEPH

'Herd immunity' was a tragic failure in Sweden, it resulted in high fatality tolls. Have the politicians responsible for those policies been held accountable? When everyone else was going into some measure of lockdown, Sweden didn't. There need to be repercussions for those decisions.

A Pastoral Letter to the Clergy from His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEPH

The polarization is nowhere near as deep, yet. As for 'naivte', you're being too kind. Leftists love to control policy for the sake of control. When they mess up, which is often, they rarely take responsibility for their failures. Instead they double-down on their errors in judgement. Leftist...
