Is God in charge of everything that happens?

God can change his mind also. For instance the prophecy in Jeremiah 26 was not fulfilled, as we read that Jeremiah said: Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; and the Lord will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you. The story...

If predestination is false than how can people in different religions be saved?

A question that I ask myself many times also. This CS Lewis quote is very good I think: “We do know that no person can be saved except through Christ. We do not know that only those who know Him can be saved by Him.” Lewis was an inclusionist believing that God also saves people from other...

Is God in charge of everything that happens?

I was reading up on middle knowledge this morning before reading your post. It seems the middle ground between strict determined predestination and 'just' foreknowledge. It makes a lot of sense, even though some concepts are hard to grasp (such as difference between chronologically and logically...

Is God in charge of everything that happens?

Then God planned all circumstances and in a roundabout way made our decisions beforehand? That still makes God responsible for man's bad choices. I would like to have a simple explanation for this all, but I haven't found one (yet). We can see God interfering with causal reality in the Bible...

Is God in charge of everything that happens?

Prophecy is not necessarily dependant on predestination, there are instances in the Bible where a prophecy is not fulfilled because certain conditions were not met. If God never deviates from his plan, why bother to pray? Unless man is a puppet created to play the part God has predestined for...

Is God in charge of everything that happens?

Thank you for the scripture you quoted. They are indeed familiar texts, showing God can change His mind (anthropomorphically speaking ;)). I've read quite a bit of Dennett, a compatibilist, and I think compatibilism either weakens the idea of free will or the meaning of determinism. Although...

Is God in charge of everything that happens?

Could you show some scripture that defend this view? This is an issue which has been on my mind for many years now. I tend to agree with you. Mainly because the alternative is hyper-Calvinism, which says all things originate in God's will. Even the Fall of Adam/Eve was willed by God. Without...

Has anyone thought of this? (WARNING: DOUBT TRIGGERING)

I think God can still do this, but mostly does not. It seems many faith healers are frauds or at least a lot of whishful thinking is involved. Often the less (more or less) gullible or 'cured', instead of real physical healing takes place. If it were so easy to heal, why do these faith healers...

How do believers in other faiths keep faith?

@Albion Thanks for your reply. Essentially what you say is that non-Christian faith is more 'believe', culture, political based. That is why only in Christianity we can speak of God connecting to man, through the Holy Spirit. Strictly speaking: Christianity is the only genuine faith in God.

How do believers in other faiths keep faith?

I understand; of course the religions mentioned are examples. Just last Sunday I heard a preacher say that without the Holy Spirit we would not even be Christians, we would not be able to keep the faith at all. The thing is that billions of non-Christian believers do. Their faith is sustained...

How do believers in other faiths keep faith?

As a Christian, I agree with what you say. But looking from an outsider's position I see little difference. The Muslim or Hindu is experiencing faith/religion also, and often intensely. Where do we detect that the faith we hold is connected to the Holy Spirit?

How do believers in other faiths keep faith?

It is said that God gives us the power/strength to believe. Or that God works faith in us and that without the work of the Holy Sprit non of us would believe. How does this work for other religions? For instance, there are 1 billion Mulsims who are pretty sure of their faith. How do they believe...
