Why I wont believe in god

To be fair, isn’t that what keeps people from sinning? Most will exclaim, “Well, my nature is changed! I have no desire to sin!” But even scripture tells us it isn’t so easy to overcome our flesh. Most Christians abstain from sin by the mere fear of being cast into hell for the indulgence.

Why I wont believe in god

I often have the same questions/misgivings you have. I think it requires much humbling of oneself, and growing in the knowledge of God, to gain some perspective. Easier said than done, of course. I’m still trying to figure it out, myself. May I ask, do you believe in God, yet just feel that...

    Open rebellion against God

I’m trying to. I’ve been struggling with this lately. It’s hard to put my faith and trust in a God who I feel is waiting for me to mess up so He can spiritually beat me over the head.

    Scared of being left behind

All born again believers will be raptured. Check out Mr. Christian and other grace channels. He goes far in depth in scripture and makes great videos on this very topic. Diamondustification is a great channel, as well.

    Open rebellion against God

So, how is this not a form of force, if He’ll essentially torture us (but not really, because it’s actually the enemy doing it, God is just allowing it, of course) to get us to appeal to Him, and follow Him, whatever that actually entails, given that most folks can’t even discern what His will...

    Open rebellion against God

I’d argue that people conflate salvation with sanctification. Sanctification is a process; salvation is instant, a one time thing. Salvation and the rebirth are one and the same. They would logically have to be.

I’m no Trump fan, but I wouldn’t trust WaPo as my go-to on political truth.

    Silence (A Deconstruction of Faith)

I’ve watched this before. Nice analysis. I haven’t seen Silence itself yet, and had set it aside to watch, but was paused by a reviewer who mentioned it would depress anyone already struggling with their faith.

Experientiality of Christianity (or lack thereof)

I’ve been struggling lately in my faith, and one of the issues I’ve been pondering about is how we as Christians generally tend to receive a sort of second-hand revelation. It’s as though we are living vicariously through someone else’s testimony, or revelation. We listen to sermons or teachings...

I believe that i AM saved

You just quoted it right there: “Since ye BELIEVED” We receive the Holy Spirit when we believe. I have no reason to think otherwise. You can’t go by spiritual gifts, as not everyone speaks in tongues. And baptism does not automatically give one the Holy Spirit, as literally anyone can get...

I believe that i AM saved

You are saved the second you believe. Salvation is a one-time event, the moment you believe on Jesus Christ alone for the remission of all of your sins. You are saved by grace, through faith, NOT of your own doing, not by works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8). Sanctification, however...

    Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Well, that certainly alleviates my concern. I was having an existential crisis. Bless you.

    Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

So, I think I screwed up: A few nights ago I pulled up some worship music videos on my phone to listen to as I fell asleep, and a sudden bombardment of perverted and evil thoughts began to flow through my mind. I looked at my phone to try to watch the video for a bit and kind of block out the...

The problem with "church" as I see it.....

I love this post. Much of this has been on my mind lately, especially after watching Todd White’s videos. It’s like I’m waiting for this epiphany, or something to click in my head, especially the “realize your identity in Christ” thing. And Gideon, you make a great point on faith and believing...

Is a water-only fast the only way to receive fasting’s spiritual benefits?

What it says on the tin: I’m wondering if a water-only fast is the only way to receive spiritual benefits. I began reading this book called The Atomic Power With God Through Prayer and Fasting by Franklin Hal and it seems as though most of the folks did extended water-only fasts. So no...

We are about to be asked to count the cost of following Him....

This is actually what I have been lamenting lately. I know that I am not “on fire” and I simply don’t know how to get there. There have been a few days where I felt so in it, so buzzing with at least some sort of zeal, and then it’s back to the apathy, back to the distractions and escapism...

Does God desire a one-world state?

A one-world state would ultimately end up being a political system of some sort. I don’t think I would ever want to live in a theocracy, either (Handmaid’s Tale, much?).

What would it take to make you a Christian?

In my opinion, spirituality should be experiential, not simply something one chooses to believe. One would think, that an all-powerful, omniscient God would be able to embue his precious creation with the ability to know Him directly, rather than by second-hand gospel. That they have a...
