Catholic politicians must be held accountable for pro-abortion views

Some people argue this. Peter Singer, for instance.

Another birthday party in the news where no one showed up

Today, there was another article about a kid's birthday party where no one showed up It seems like there's been a bunch of these stories. As a parent, it's quite heartbreaking to read these kinds of stories. What really set me off, though was reading some of the comments (I know, I know...

Trump has made my political science students skeptical — of the Constitution

So what you're saying is the Constitution works, and it has successfully provided guiding principals that have allowed the U.S. to incrementally but continuously grow and improve over the past 230 years?

His wife died fighting for the U.S., then the U.S. deported him

I don't understand the question. Once again, you continue to assume he did not make it a priority. On what basis are you making this assumption? Please don't put words in my mouth. No one ever said we should give him anything for free. You asked about the costs of applying for citizenship...

His wife died fighting for the U.S., then the U.S. deported him

We are just going to have to agree to disagree. I am all for immigration reform, enforcing border controls, and removing illegal immigrants who pose a danger to society. But I fail to see how it is in society's interests to remove a contributing member of society who is the breadwinner for...

His wife died fighting for the U.S., then the U.S. deported him

Edited the comment above to add: PiP for military spouses was not formalized until November 2013, so this option may not even have been initially open to him, or the lack of clear policy could have contributed to the delay.

His wife died fighting for the U.S., then the U.S. deported him

Parole in place does not grant legal permanent residency. In addition to the costs and difficulties involved for PiP (lawyers, notarizations, going to the consulate to obtain records, etc), he would have also had to apply for work permits, social security card, etc AND most importantly apply...

His wife died fighting for the U.S., then the U.S. deported him

Not a single one of my friends or family in Mexico believes their kids would be better off in Mexico than in the U.S. Twenty years ago, for instance, I visited a town in Guerrerro for a wedding. Five years ago, 43 college students from that town were abducted and disappeared. You have no idea...

    My Knowledge Challenge

Scientifically speaking, ostriches don't actually hide their heads in the sand. They do bury their eggs in the ground, so while tending to the eggs it appears that they are hiding their heads in the sand. Also, while lions do prey on ostriches, ostrich kicks are dangerous and can debilitate...

And don't forget how expensive it is. Especially when complicated cases drag on and a lawyer is needed.

His wife died fighting for the U.S., then the U.S. deported him

The daughter is an American citizen. She is fourteen--high school age--and has grown up and lived her whole life here. She cannot be forcibly removed, and depending on the father's situation, telling him to take her with may not be in the child's best interests. But who in their right mind...

Female student files civil rights complaint over boy in girls’ locker room

That's assuming you have individual showers in the first place. Newly constructed school buildings often do have individual showers, but tons of older schools have showers that look like this: There is no getting around nakedness in a shower like that. Even locker rooms with individual...

Female student files civil rights complaint over boy in girls’ locker room

We're not talking about strangers. We are talking about classmates--which for many of these kids, by the way, is even worse. That aside, please enlighten me how a locker room full of kids will manage to shower and change without getting naked in front of each other.

Female student files civil rights complaint over boy in girls’ locker room

So, what is your solution to showering and changing out of sweaty, soiled clothing and back into uniform or street clothes after physical education class or sports practice? Hard to do that all without getting naked... It's a metaphor. Okay if you say so.

Female student files civil rights complaint over boy in girls’ locker room

My undergrad university had "coed" bathrooms. The bathrooms were marked by gender, but there was no enforcement of the rule, and people used whatever bathroom they wanted. I actually wanted women in the men's bathroom when I was coming out of the shower, so I could show off my sculpted...

Relationship Advice - I turned a girl down because of behavior that disturbed me

Is the father receiving treatment for cancer, like chemo or radiation therapy? If so, might the root cause be that he is sensitive or embarrassed by his appearance? Maybe the girl is making excuses--wittingly or unwittingly--to cover for him? She seems like she is going through a lot. People...
