Why is this ok when God does it but bad when we(humans) do this?

I have known people who struggled their whole lives, one bad thing after another, and they are the deepest, wisest, most loving and generous people I know. And I have known people who are rich, born with a silver spoon in their mouth, and they were the most shallow people who did not care about...

Why is this ok when God does it but bad when we(humans) do this?

Olivet, sorry to bug you. You have been on my mind. Not sure if you are still following this, but I wanted to share a couple more things with you. The "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy" scripture, also relates back to Pharoh, and God hardening his heart. What many people miss in this I...

Why is this ok when God does it but bad when we(humans) do this?

Oh, and Olivet, we don't actually know if we asked to be here or not. If souls are eternal, perhaps we did ask before we came, but that was hidden from us down here.

That was in response to Olivet's response to me. This website doesn't always work right on my phone

Why is this ok when God does it but bad when we(humans) do this?

No, I KNOW exactly how you feel! But God is opposite of this world and views circumstances and troubles the exact opposite as we do. Those who suffer the most will be first in the kingdom. Worldly blessings mean zero! And look again to our Lord Christ. He was despised, considered rejected...

Why is this ok when God does it but bad when we(humans) do this?

Olivet, (great name!), The Bible also says "Parents, don't exasperate your children." "The letter of the law kills, but the spirit gives life." Meaning to me, God is in the details. One law does not apply to every circumstance. On the other hand, we should pray for our parents even if they...

When all does not mean all.

Lovely. And I love the one from the movie "Brother Son, Sister Moon" when the pope says to St. Francis "In our preoccupation with original sin, we tend to forget original innocense." It may seem somewhat off topic, but I think it shows that God's mind is so much greater than ours, and we need to...

When all does not mean all.

What we don't know for sure is what happens after that. I mean, throw in the thousand years of peace when Christ will reign, etc. It gets pretty complicated. But, I would not encourage anyone to not accept Christ now. He is the way, the truth, the life, and he loves us; praise God! Thank-you God!

"though now we see through a foggy glass..." So glad one day we will understand it all!

When all does not mean all.

I know, but that does not explain the scriptures that seem to say all will be saved. We can go tit for tat on scripture, but I'd rather not argue on what is unclear to me. I'm just saying there are valid points, in scripture itself, for both sides.

When all does not mean all.

This is just one more scripture that seems to say all will be saved, "I will make ALL things new" "I will reconcile ALL things to myself." "Every knee shall bow and tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." And in light of that, "If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart Jesus...

Worried I can't get close to God

Just make a t Make a time every day to pray and read at least one chapter a day. I do it in the morning with my coffee. When I get out of the habit and then come back, I am stunned at how much beauty and relationship with God I have been missing. He is truly the only fulfilment in this life...

Worried I can't get close to God

There is a line in the book The Screwtape Letters where a demon is trying to lead someone away from Christ, and failing, and he says to Satan something like 'It's just so hard, God gave them so many great things to enjoy that aren't sin!' I know you know, even though I do not know you, that...

    Torn

This too shall pass. Hang on. Life is largely about sacrifice rather than our desires. Your parents time is short; find God in the moments with them. One day, we will all be with Him, then our joy will be complete. But I know what you mean. It's rough down here sometimes. I will pray for you and...

    Is Christianity Just a Crutch?

No, it is not a crutch, it is the truth. "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." In the larger scheme of things, Jesus crucified, and risen, to save our souls, is what matters - not whether we do just fine down here or not. Many Christians are worse off, by standards of this...

My, my, my......how the tune changes.....

That is untrue. That is exactly what they did-try to overturn the election. "We came for the revolution. " And there were a whole lot more than 20.; racists, like the proud boys. And the cops let them leave, unlike other protests; peaceful protests, where people were attacked by cops. And how...

Shattered ~ Did satan’s sin cause the big bang?

Wow! I just read this entire conversation and am impressed...math/science brains out there...way over my head... But Cassia, I just want to thank you for connecting Romans 9 to 2 Timothy, which I had never done. Romans 9 always seemed unfair to me, and unkind; inconsistent with a loving God, but...
