If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

I would appreciate that. You are making some good points for the topic, thanks. That's an interesting perspective. Any comments on the theological impact of that? If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

Thanks for your reply. Do you see no issues with the biblical account of creation? Can a human be formed out of dust?

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

Thanks. I tend to agree with you. How do you handle the problems in the genealogies of Jesus? It was explained to me once, so I can't really explain it now. And what about the scientific conflicts? The only thing I can create out of dust are dust bunnies. - LOL But then, I'm not God...

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

Which leaves us with theological content based on inaccurate historical data? I agree that there are are problems with the genealogies, so the inaccuracies are present. If Jesus isn't in the line of David, what does that do to the story? If Adam wasn't an actual person, same question. ???

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

Would that mean that there were humans outside of the Fall of humankind? (Adam's fall)

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

That's curious. Tell us more. Thanks. And... What about the genealogies of Jesus? Or is that what you meant by historic?

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

What about the creation week as six days? (sun up/sundown) What about the genealogies of Jesus?

If Adam wasn't the first man, how does that affect The Fall and The Atonement?

A fair number of Christians have opted for a more scientific view of origins. Evolution, as apposed to Creationism. (basically) Both sides have good arguments to support their position. I find myself stuck in the middle somewhere. I see plenty of evidence for intelligent design in creation...

Led by the Spirit versus led by the Word. (the Bible)

I use this for my working definition. Strengthening, encouragement and comfort. Sorely lacking in the church today. (and the forum) 1 Corinthians 14:3 NIV But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.

"Repent of your sins to be saved" is false, works salvation

There is quite a broad underestanding and application of what that means. What should we do when someone understands and applies those "truths" differently than we do?

Why haven't you left the church? - And why I haven't.

Thanks, good response. What about the fellowship aspect? Do you have Christian friends outside of church?

Why haven't you left the church? - And why I haven't.

Thanks for weighing in on this topic. You make some good points. The churches I have attended don't require dressing up. That helps. Many churches have online services for those who can't show up. But... What do you feel you are missing if you aren't there in person?

Thanks for mentioning John Wimber. (Vineyard) He was a great influence on my spiritual journey. I hadn't heard the story you just related. Much appreciated. How long have you been praying for revival, or whatever?

"Repent of your sins to be saved" is false, works salvation

Isn't this overstepping bounds to require others to repent for not agreeing with your interpretive opinions? There isn't consensus on your claims. You mentioned the Calvinists and Lutherans. Are you throwing them under the bus, as the saying goes?

Led by the Spirit versus led by the Word. (the Bible)

Saint Steven said: We should all be willing and available to be used as the Lord sees fit. Not about him. Our sensitivity to what he is doing. And how we can partner with him. I was addressing the "that's not my gift" problem. Or completely missing what God would have us do because we...

"Repent of your sins to be saved" is false, works salvation

Why is that amazing? Is that not what you have done? Maybe you are amazing too. (no doubt) What is the alternative to formulating ones own personal beliefs while reading the Bible?

"Repent of your sins to be saved" is false, works salvation

According to the Apostles own written words? Where is that quote found? ("anyone unwilling to follow Jesus' instructions is a liar and the truth is not in that person") Sounds more like a pseudo-biblical claim to me. But what do I know?
