    Any examples of this?

Does anyone have examples of God sparing people form death in the New Testament? Similar to the story of Jonah in how how relented judgment in Nineveh due to them repenting? It seems most of the NT talks about eternal life but did god ever spare physical life due to repentance? We know he ended...

    Can someone explain this contradiciton?

I've literally had nobody that was properly able to answer this. In Ezekiel 18:20 it is quoted " The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to...

    Concerning God and rash promises

So I've discussed this topic before but I struggle with OCD and this OCD leads me to make "oaths" with God on a daily basis. I was recently was going to make a trip to go across country on a plane (I am scared of planes) but the trip was cancelled due to me having to stay for school. This was...

I'm a Christian but I can't get behind the notion that God is mericful

Just look at the Old Testament there is no mercy. Those who are told they are going to die die (Davids son, Achan etc). The Old Testament seemed like a very much "one strike rule you're out". It seems God rarely spared lives besides the rare occasions Isreal/Judah repented. Moving to the New...

What are examples of God being merciful to individuals/taking back his original judgment?

I already know about Ahab who repented and then was killed in battle and David who received mercy and then his children died. Any more examples?

    Contradiction?

In the Bible it’s clear that children are not suppose to be punished for the sins of their parents Ezekiel 18:20 “The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will...

I’m not sure if I believe God is merciful or would help me

So when I was younger I made a promise with God concerning me taking trips on planes (I’ve never been on one due to this experience). I was unable to fulfill this promise and I even went as far as to say “give me one final chance” (in prayer of course) that however didn’t work. I still kept...

Is it bad I don’t find God merciful?

Not to say I am an atheist or a non believer but just reading a good portion of the Bible, I don’t see much mercy. Most people who are sinned are punished and most areas that are sinful are destroyed minus a few like Nineveh. For the most part the Bible (especially OT) is a book of wrath. I...

Why did God kill Ahab after he repented?

In Kings Ahab is shown to have repented for his sin after Elijah visits him (Kings 1 chapter 21 28-29) but later he allowed lying spirits to send Ahab into battle to kill him. Very confusing to me.

Did God actually do the drought in Jeremiah chapter 14?

In this chapter God claims he’s tired of Isreal and will punish them for their sins (drought) but in later chapters still ask they repent (Jeremiah chapter 19)

Can anyone give me new examples of repentance in the Bible?

I only ever see people quoting the repentance of Isreal, David, Nivenah and Manasseh in the Bible. Any other examples?

God is too scary for me to handle

I’ve made a couple of post talking about how I had a made a vow to the Lord that I would stop having sex/masturbating (most sinful thing I could think of that I do) if I wouldn’t be in a plane accident (I thought I was travelling at one point) I eventually ended up not going on the trip, yet...

    Can’t shake this fear

So as I posted last week I have a plane fear and to get over it I made a vow to God that I wouldn’t do anything sexual for a year or so (most sinful thing at the time I guess I did) and I ended up breaking that months later. The problem is since I didn’t keep my end of the vow I’m scared to get...

Does God actually destroy Isreal in Jeremiah?

In the story he discusses how he going to kill them using drought, sword or famine but a few verses later says they if they repent Isreal will be restored. Did he actually act out those punished or not? Sources: “If you repent, I will restore you”

I’m scared God is going to kill me in a plane crash

Not long ago (a couple of months ago) I was scared to get on a plane and my a vow with god basically like “hey God please don’t kill me in a plane crash and I’ll do... yada yada yada” well I’m unhappy to see I’ve don’t “yada yada” plenty of times. It was (having sex/masturbating by the way)...

Any examples where a Bible character did a sin without any consequences?

We know that in the Bible that some sins carry a consequences even when the person repenteded (David) but are there any sins where the person was just straight up forgiven without temporal consequences that you can think of?
